For those who haven?t seen it, JT was in some excruciating pain following Sabonis crowding his landing on a made three.  Sabonis got a flagrant but Tatum got himself what appears to be a bad ankle sprain.  I know it?s bad practice to compare self with real athletes, but like all of us I?ve had my share of turned ankles. In my experience the degree of pain was usually related to the intensity of injury and length of time needed to heal.  Hopefully I?m wrong and JT will be good as new in 3 weeks, but I think it?s going to take a good deal longer.  Obviously this team can win a round, maybe even two without him. But his absence messes with the dynamics of a team that was rolling, so I?m hoping for a pleasant surprise when we hear reports later today.

Sad news - if we don't have Tatum healthy we almost certainly don't repeat.

For what it?s worth, there were reports saying that he was walking around the dugout and goofing off with his teammates. So hopefully it?s not that bad.

This is why it is so hard to repeat.  The Celtics' reality is that our two best players, Tatum and Brown, are now suddenly dealing with injuries.  They could be perfectly fine for the playoffs, or these injuries could linger and/or recur.

It is something all teams deal with.  OKC seems the healthiest right now with Holmgren back playing although listed as day to day.  Jokic is out.  CLE is playing like a worn down team.

I am glad to see that Porzingis appears fresh and strong, that is good.  Probably Tatum and Brown will be fine for the playoffs, but you just never know.

I mean, there?s just literally no telling with ankle injuries. I remember some of the worst looking ankle rolls turned out to be only one or two game absences; whereas, some of the slightest ankle tweaks turned out to be multiple week injuries.

There?s just no telling. But I bet we?re very cautious with him and probably give him the rest of the road trip off at least, which would give him over a week off. Hopefully he?ll get at least a handful of games to play in to get his conditioning back, and hopefully it?s not something that lingers or limits him in the playoffs.

From what we've heard so far, it doesn't sound anywhere near as serious as you're making it sound NG. I know a lot of us have sustained ankle sprains in the past of differing severities. Let's hope it isn't too bad and Tatum will be ready to come back sooner rather than later (even less than the 3 weeks you mentioned). Of course, get him all the rest he needs. He's already eligible for All-NBA.

Better to happen on March 24th than April 24th.  Stuff I'm seeing this morning seems to indicate worst case scenario is avoided.  The team really isn't playing for much these last 10 games.  They're locked into the 2 seed in the East and HOU isn't going to catch them in the overall standings for Finals HCA.

Rest him.  Treatment.  Ease him back.

Everyone take a deep breath. It's gonna be alright.

It looked bad. Hopefully he can get some good rest and be ready for the playoffs.

Looking bad isn't the same as being bad. He'll be fine.

I don't understand the panic.  Why are people thinking he's going to be out a month?

It's not going to shock me if Tatum is back in 3 or 4 games.  Hell, Cooper Flagg missed what, a few days?
