You never know what off-topic threads will be interesting, but since it's the doldrums of January, I'm starting one.

My first one:  ranch dressing.  I ordered a buffalo chicken pizza the other night, and I told them to hold the ranch.  They didn't.  Being a good sport, I tried it.  Nope.  Still nasty.

Ranch is everywhere these days, and I will never, ever get the appeal.

Your turn.

I have never understood the ranch dressing combo with anything Buffalo. The ranch overpowers the buffalo to the point that you only taste the ranch.

IPA. I like beer but I find IPA to be too hoppy and bitter.  Give me a nice lager or pilsner any day.

Edit: I just saw the previous posts about sour beer. Oops, should have replied to that, which reminds me of another dislike: People who don?t read the whole thread and say something that has already been discussed.

But I think lots of people don?t like sours.
I was going to include cilantro in my post but I think a lot people don?t like cilantro.

How about the ubiquitous Snoop Dog?  Seems to be loved by everyone from Martha Stewart to the Trailer Park Boys.   I don?t get the appeal.

Here's one that's been getting more so with me over the years:  Super Bowl ads.

Nothing to do with the Super Bowl (or the topic at hand) but at this point in my life, I now have a major gripe with ads.

Like many people now, the only live TV I watch is sports, and so I have to sit through the commercials that come with it, no big deal for the most part, usually basic stuff (commercials for cars, cell phones, pharmaceutical drugs, etc.), except for the horror movie trailers.

I have a toddler and I'm on the west coast, so a lot of games are on during those early evening home hours of 5pm-8pm. Usually it's fine, me and my toddler can hang together in the living room, I watch the game while she plays with her toys. Or I can make dinner or be on my phone or play with my toddler, while half watching the game, etc. Everything's fine then BAM creepy horror movie trailer.

The amount of disturbing images (from watching sports at 7pm!) I have to try to quickly shield my toddler from (right before bed!) is too high!

I guess I'm one of those self righteous parents now, won't someone please think of the children!

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I have no idea if people like it so I'm probably just looking for a place to complain.  The new format at The Ringer.

Olives, cheese, avocados/guacamole, most of today's pop music, and trendiness.

When I was teaching in elementary school kids would put that Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. on everything!  The grossest was dredging the nasty cardboard pizza in it.  Not a fan of Ranch.  Not repulsed by it, but there are many better choices out there!
Yup

You should give a try the Brazilian way we use avocados. Instead of as a salad, we use it more as a fruit so we have avocado shake, which is basically half an avocado (depending on the size), blend it with milk, banana and strawberry (a little sugar if you like things sweet) and voila. You want it to be a little thick, but not too much. Great breakfast shake.

I'm going to guess that you haven't ended RNR's aversion to avocados with that recipe, lol.

This is just weird on my part, but I *love* every single type of pepper I've ever eaten, except green bell peppers (which seem to be the most popular peppers in America).  For some reason, I find them to be nasty.  Yet, I really enjoy red, yellow or orange bell peppers, along with any other pepper you can think of.  Hell, I'll eat sauces made with Scorpions or Reapers, although that's more for the intense heat than the taste.

Yeh.  Green peppers are overbearing.  I love all other peppers too.  I will make an exception for green peppers on a sausage outside of Fenway though.  If yhey've been sizzling with onions and grease for weeks on end, they're ok.
Yup

I have a super-low tolerance for heat in my food?my wife likes to joke that ketchup is as hot as I'll go, which actually isn't far from the truth, lol?but I also have never understood the fascination many people have with eating super-spicy stuff. It seems to detract from the taste of the food, and being in pain is just unpleasant, and I don't know why people put themselves through that.

Definitely not! But I'll take the milk/banana/strawberry combination.
