I am reviving this thread because, as a fan, I feel it is time to panic. That is my right but obviously Brad cannot afford to panic and do something he will regret in a year.

I do not like the brand of basketball being put out there. I feel it is very predictable which is the kiss of death in a competitive sport. I also sense that the players are trying to win on the offensive end and going through the motions on defense. The pressure to repeat is getting to them.

No panic, as this is a very competitive league, but more convinced now that the Cs don't have it in them to repeat. Will be interesting to see if Brad does anything in the summer, as the team gets worse and older and may need a shot in the arm.

Hate to say it but we could entertain the idea of trading PP since his stock is at an all time high.

This team needs more defense.

It is tough to say panic as generally I feel most teams take the regular season less seriously after winning the championship. Also from a health standpoint I think teams are a bit more conservative in managing games and such. However, it?s very likely our roster peaked last year. We are unlikely to see real improvements from Tatum/Brown moving forward. It is also clear we are seeing declines from older players like Horford and Jrue. KP due to injuries also is likely to fade even moreso sooner rather than later. That is going to make it tougher to reach the level we were at last year.

I don?t think there is going to be a shakeup out there as I doubt we trade anyone in our top six or so. And then I doubt with the rest we find someone who is better than Kornet or Quetta and can fit into our system mid season. I imagine we can find an upgrade for Springer/Peterson/Walsh but not going to move the needle that much. Basically, I am at the point where the regular season is not going to teach me more one way or another and instead just ready to roll with this team come playoff time. Don?t think we will be the favorites but think we will be close so that is all I ask for a chance and see what happens!

I am starting to worry. We can't seem to hit any 3s anymore and we (JT) are very careless with the ball. Stop complaining about fouls on every play and value the ball - STOP TURNING IT OVER. Make your free throws.

The carelessness with the ball and bad/lazy fouls are bugging me.  The shot making is going to hit or miss.  I don?t feel like they?re taking any worse shots than they were at the start of the year.  But the turnovers and fouls speak to more of a lackadaisical mindset.  They?re complacent.its a long season and they don?t get up for every game like their opponent does to face the champ.

There?s definitely a toughness issue issue as seen by the glass and loose ball dominance.

Also, Al looks like he?s toast 90% of the time.

Not panicking though!
Yup

This team reminds me of the 2010 team, although they're winning more games.  I do think they're taking the "flip the switch" approach.

Tatum said many times that winning a title is really hard.  They faced that challenge and got a title. But guess what, winning a second is even harder. So far they have not risen to that challenge.  A lot has to go right to win a title.  For any team, no matter how good, on top of playing at your best.  They need to play better if they want another title. I think the team is good enough, but they need to break out of this afterglow malaise they seem to be in.

Very few title winning teams maintain their intensity during the regular season after winning a title. Even those that repeat. The season is too long. There are lulls.

These lulls are not a reason to worry.

That is what made Jordan's Bulls so special. Except for the 1993 team they played with such urgency year after year despite winning titles. They are an outlier though. Bird's Celtics did not play with that consistency in the regular season. Neither did Magic's Lakers. Both regularly had lulls and often failed to dominate the regular season to the extent they were capable of.

I really hope it doesn?t end the same way as 2010, I?m still not really over it 15 years later.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

In a podcast, Paul Pierce said if he were to replay one game in his career, he'd choose one of the games from the Nets/Celtics playoff series against Jason Kidd.

Wat is he thinking. Of course the one game you were to replay over is Game 7 2010.

The NBA regular season is awful. Over the years I've learned to minimize my exposure to it. It's just not worth it, at least not once your roster is developed and pretty much set.

Until the league gives an actual incentive to win regular season games the product will remain poor. BTW I think that incentive should be the ability for higher seeds to choose their opponents.
