This team just isn't fun to watch this year.
Last season I'd make time to watch as many as I could. This year it's not must see for me.

If they don't care to show up, why should I?

Have to be honest, based on your posts at the time I wouldn't have guessed that you would characterise last year's team as 'fun to watch', but maybe we have different definitions of the word fun.

My intuition is that the team is just in a slump. I don't think the entire team is going to collectively continue to shoot terribly. The underlying metrics are still good. I think they'll snap out of whatever malaise they are in.

But that said the East is going to be tougher this year, and OKC in the finals would be head and shoulders better than any team they face last year. So I've moved form 0% worry to like 5%, if for no other reason than its a hard mountain to climb and maybe its just a bad luck year where every player shoots below their career from 3. Seems unlikely, but strange things happen.

I still give them a chance obviously, but as of now it?s not looking good. Last year literally everything broke their way including all the teams they faced in the east being injured and the 5th seed in the west breaking through to the finals instead of Denver/OKC.
Could happen again but wouldn?t count on it.
When they made the finals in 22 it was a much tougher path and they are capable of doing that.

It says something that this team can be in a slump that has lasted about half the season and still have the third-best record in the NBA.

They have a lot of time left to fix it, and even then they still might be good enough if they?re scuffling.

There were times last year I was frustrated, but I did tune in and watched. I probably was negative at times, but I also would tell my son to enjoy the run.
Joe had a lot to prove to me last year, so the faith had to be earned.

I'm just hoping last year was a fluke and his system can have sustained success.

Back to wanting Joe fired.

The "backs against the wall" and "underdog" Celtics are fun to watch and usually do very well.

My worry though is, if there's something going on behind the scenes. Maybe some locker room tension, or tension about the future Celtics ownership sale, or even just feeling like they aren't at the level of OKC/CLE.

I think the best "hope" is they are truly coasting and just going through the motions since it's still January in the regular season with the All-Star Break and 2nd half still to come. Not making excuses for them if true, but at least then they could have a shot to figure it out and play better when it matters.

If it's not though and it's the first thing (a lot of tension or locker room issues or a combination of both) then that'll be a problem that unfortunately doesn't go away and might even lead to an exit before the ECF.

I also have wondered if it's one of those weird things where everyone is healthy (including Porzingis) and they just aren't used to it. I mean Porzingis is usually hurt and they got used to rotations and playing without him. Now everyone is healthy, and maybe they are still building chemistry with everyone and figuring out rotations better.

I think if we lose next game there needs to be a players-only meeting.

-Checks next Celtics game-
Orlando @ Boston

WELP the C's struggle at home and if it's against Paolo Banchero, GG. Plus they were smoked so bad by the Bucks yesterday, tomorrow is their get-right game.

They also play the Hawks on a SEGABABA Saturday. Hawks typically give them fits

It'll be what we always dreamed of, a 3peat.

3 game losing streak unfortunately.

Blow-out win over a playoff team should calm nerves for at least a day.

Not a perfect will but I must say that I liked how they went about it.  A comfortable win with only 37 3PA.  Better defensive execution.  Only 10 turnovers.  Held them to 41.5% FG%.  Something to build on.

And maybe most reassuring, Starters + Porzingis +15 in 20 minutes (+38.5 per 100 Possessions).  That is what we needed to see the most.

Yeah fair enough. I think we'd all be happy with another ring (and then hopefully some rule changes to encourage a more viewer-friendly form of NBA basketball)
