Wolves with home court advantage next round; GSW about to get thrashed by them.

I hope so, but it feels like they could get going and get on a run and make it to the finals.

Why ? Because they beat an inexperience team that couldn?t shoot 3?s and melted down in 2 games they should have won? Let?s see how those old guys bounce back. Don?t forget it?s every other day now. I?d bet they won?t hold up.

There is a good chance they won't hold up if Green, Curry, and Butler all have to play 40+ minutes every game.  Kerr needs to find more minutes for his bench, but his bench isn't very productive either.

But experience matters.  Having the greatest 3 point shooter ever matters.   I doubt that Minn is going to sweep them or anything like that.   Games get tight in the playoffs and it is probably another 6-7 game battle between GS and Minn.

Houston did well to win 3 games.

Not a good sign that GSW couldn't put them away in 5 or 6 given how limited Houston are offensively. Does not inspire confidence in GSW's title aspirations.

That?s fair, but Minnesota is more physical and has a better bench. I think that takes its toll over a series so I like them in the end. 6 or 7.

They're not gonna hold up. Antman is a generational talent. Plus GSW don't have any bigs to counter Gobert, Reid, and Randle, and esp Gobert if he turns into Wilt Chamberlain again.

I would've preferred the Warriors to advance if the Lakers made it next round, but the Wolves did the job for us. Wolves in 5 here and I sure hope they just go all the way to the Finals bcuz there's no way in hell the Nuggets will survive OKC and SGA's free-throw parade (unless OKC shows their second-round choke again)

Well, if Indiana holds up and Boston wins their series, Boston may have home-court advantage in the ECF  :)

That is a completely reasonable take.   I want to see Minn win that series.   Hopefully Minn learned a lot from last years WCF.

I don?t frequent the boards as much these days so asking honestly. Did you own up or apologize for how much you glazed up and hyped up the lakers the last three years. You culiminated saying they had a double bye to the conference finals a few weeks ago. Genuinely curious how you responded after making that bold proclamation? It?s been painful constantly reading it the last few years but would gain a lot of respect from me if you at least owned it.

Wolves win and secured 6th seed.

Looks like a first-round bye for LAL, one-man Antman can't beat their Big 3.

Basically first two rounds are bye series for the Lakers lol. They'll curbstomp the Rockets next round as well

lol

Overall though, outside of a few series like CLE-MIA and MEM-OKC, that was an AWESOME first round as a whole. Some close series, great contests, nice player battles, etc.

I?ve heard this a lot and while it seemed destined to be a great first round overall it just wasn?t, the clippers/nuggets was the star of the show and went 7 and then was non competitive, golden state should?ve won in 5 but let off the gas and then that game 7 was also non competitive, every other series was meh

I'm sorry but I very strongly disagree. I don't think I am being a bully at all (I am a bit curious what you think that word even means in this context here cause bullying is "the use of force, coercion, or threats to abuse or dominate others, often based on perceived differences or imbalances of power." This seems like an incredible stretch for anything I said here which was generally cordial and about accountability for repeated proclamations for multiple years with a simple "my bad"). There are all sorts of people that made projections about the playoffs or any other number of topics) that have been wrong including myself, and that's totally fine. Heck someone could laugh at me for all the times I used to say fire joe and I'd laugh right along with them.

If you consistently pick one topic for 5 years and jam it down everyone's throats (not even mentioning it is our biggest historical rival) and time and time again are not even close to accurate it becomes obnoxious after a certain point. I didn't call him any names or insult him, just asked for a little accountability for saying the same things 50 times for 5 years and said it would earn some respect for me if he did so.

The forum is a much better place if we can all show a little humility at times it contributes to much better discourse and in some cases even friendships (of which I have made a few over the last 15+ years on this forum). But if this is considered bullying? it's a pretty sad commentary on the level of discussion on here at the moment.

Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers broke one of Michael Jordan?s NBA playoff records on Sunday night.

The All-Star guard would rather be one victory closer to a championship.

Mitchell finished with 33 points in the Cavs? 121-112 loss to the Indiana Pacers, his eighth straight game with at least 30 points in a series opener.

Jordan had two seven-game streaks of 30 points in Game 1s (from 1991 to 1993 and 1997 to 1998) while leading the Chicago Bulls to six NBA titles.

Quote
?Jordan won Game 1. I didn?t,? Mitchell said. ?It?s always great to be in great company. But man, we lost. I shot 30 times. I always try to be aggressive to start a series.?

Jordan was 6-1 during both of his streaks in Game 1. Mitchell is 4-4, including 2-3 in series openers with Cleveland since coming over in a trade from Utah in September 2022.

Quote
Mitchell is averaging 33.2 points in series openers, second-highest in NBA history for a player who has taken part in at least 10 postseason series. His playoff average of 27.9 points is seventh-best among players with at least 50 games.

Extremely impressive. 8 straight playoff series is nothing to sneeze at.

This guy must have some dirt on the owner.

The Utah Jazz and coach Will Hardy have agreed to a multiyear extension through 2031, owner Ryan Smith announced Monday.

"Will is a great leader, communicator, and ambassador for our org, and is a tremendous partner to [CEO Danny Ainge], [GM Justin Zanik], and me," Smith said in a social media post. "Our goal is to hang a banner, and Will is a huge part of this journey."

Hardy, 37, was hired to coach the Jazz prior to the 2022-23 season and has compiled an 85-161 record in his three seasons, with no playoff appearances. Utah won 37 games in his first season, 31 in his second and just 17 this season -- by far the worst record in franchise history and the worst record in the NBA this season.
Quoting Nick from the now locked Ime thread:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.
