At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

That's why the playoffs are called a "new season". Detroit looks shellshocked right now. The inexperience is showing.

I still think this will be a deep series though, 6 or 7 games

Brunson flopping his head back every time there?s contact is so annoying to watch.

I like the Pistons still being aggressive and also jawing a bit at the Knicks. It's still a long series IMO, this is only Game 1

But also I'm happy we have either of these teams next round. Just take care of business against Orlando and the 2nd round shouldn't be too bad either

Also Doncic cooking them early. PTSD for MIN fans from last year against Dallas lol

Bummer. I thought the playoffs wouldn't be starting until tomorrow.

Doncic with 16pts in the first quarter. Nice trade, Nico!

Minny 2nd unit with a smaller backcourt of Conley & NAW. Strategically using this lineup when Luka is off the floor. Trying to avoid Luka beating up their smaller guards in switches.

"Minnesota playing with a little bit of pace now ..."

That is what Minny needs to do. They are more athletic than the Lakers. Run them off the court. LeBron and Luka run opportunistically but they are not good in a track meet. Use your athleticism and run their old slow asses off the court.

Game of runs. 12-2 from MIN, now they lead

I expect we will see a lot of Minny's bigger lineup in this series

G: Ant
G: DiVincenzo
F: McDaniels
F: Randle
C: Naz / Gobert

DiVincenzo is their biggest bench perimeter player. He is too short for Luka and LeBron but he has the most physical strength. He can compete physically better than NAW or Conley. So I expect he will play a lot in this series. 30+mpg.

I wonder if Minny would try a giant lineup

G: Ant
G: McDaniels
F: Randle
F: Naz
C: Gobert

Randle can help with ball-handling duties and initiating the offense so it is not all on Ant. This would avoid Luka & LeBron getting mismatches against those small Minny guards. If I were Minny, I'd be perfectly happy with LeBron & Luka playing 1-on-1 against my big men and having to shoot over the top to beat them.

It is a huge lift for Minny whenever McDaniels has a good scoring night.

I've been disappointed he hasn't developed more as a scorer in the NBA. He was a scorer in college. I thought he'd continue to grow and become a solid 15-17ppg threat (if not more). Instead, he has stagnated.

Having a good game tonight though.

Commentator talking about Jaden McDaniels having a career year with career highs in ppg, rpg, apg .... yada yada.

PPG = 12.2ppg vs previous high of 12.1ppg
APG = 2.0apg vs previous high of 1.9apg
RPG = fair enough, 5.7rpg vs 4.2rpg

Those previous highs were 3 years ago. They are basically the exact same stats. He has plateued. He has failed to develop.

Commentators acting like he has taken his game to new heights this season. Bull!!
