Anybody want to watch a trainwreck?  Mavs owner talks about the Luka trade.

https://x.com/LukaUpdates/status/1900213577258082557

How is he gonna call Luka "out of shape" while being out of shape himself

Fat shaming aside, the guy clearly sounds like he doesn't have much experience or understanding around the game of basketball.  Leads me to believe even more that he was bamboozled by Nico.

Agreed.  It seems clear to me that he put his trust in the wrong guy, and Nico sold him on a franchise-killing deal.

This is one he probably should have discussed with his fellow owners, or just posted with a burner account on Twitter.

True. Also I want to be clear, I am definitely not a fat-shamer btw, I despite the people who do so. I didn't intend it to sound that way in my post, but it's just this guy has put out so many "anti-Luka" quotes particularly about him being out of shape, having a poor work ethic, etc. and he's definitely driving these hit pieces on Luka, yet there's also video of the owner in one of the games literally just waddling over to his seat (no joke, actually waddling).

But yeah, the guy is also clueless. He said Shaq had an "amazing work ethic"

Danny has no shame, lol. Jazz were resting their good players vs the bad teams and playing them vs the good ones. Pretty blatant.

The NBA on Wednesday fined the Utah Jazz $100,000 for violating its player participation policy.

According to the league, the violation occurred when the Jazz failed to make power forward Lauri Markkanen available when Utah took on the host Washington Wizards on March 5, "as well as other recent games."

Markkanen is a "star player" under the policy because he was an All-Star in 2023. He has been out since Feb. 22, with the Jazz (15-50) saying it's for injury management on his lower back. Shortly after the fine was announced, the team said Markkanen would play Wednesday night against the Grizzlies, and he scored 14 points in 28 minutes in a 122-115 loss in Memphis.

Another violation would cost Utah $250,000.

$100,000 fine for Cooper Flagg? Worth it  :P

Spare change .   You need to take away draft picks to really penalize a whole organization,  that?s a joke to them ?kinda insult ??.try taking away a second round pick ??escalate it up from there .

Yeah, fine is too low. That is not going to stop anybody.

The fines have to be much higher. I agree with taking away draft picks.

Commentators on Bucks vs Lakers game:

(1) Lakers have the 3rd most difficult remaining schedule
(2) Bucks have 6th most difficult remaining schedule
(3) Lakers have league high 6 back to backs still to play
(4) Knicks have 2nd most back to backs with 5

Luka has 33pts on on 11-20 FGA 6-8 FTA 8reb midway through Q3. A Reaves has 17pts. They have combined for 50 of LA's 74pts.

They are getting no help though. Knecht next top scorer with 7 and the only guy with 3 buckets. 3 other guys have 2 made baskets (Gabe, Vanderbilt, DFS).

LAL can't beat Milwaukee with only 2 guys contributing on offense.

----------------------------------

Lakers defense is weaker without LeBron & Hachimura. They are two 6-8 bulky physical big forwards for their switching defense. Now they have smaller guards doing those switches in their absence.

It does not work.

--------------------------------

LeBron is a massive absence but it is a shame Hachimura is out at the same time. Hachimura would be their 3rd scorer and a big defensive forward to help maintain their defense.

Kevin Porter Jr has been a great pickup for MIL.

I keep waiting for him to cool off but he keeps playing well for MIL. Key bench player for them now. Main scoring threat off their bench.

Tomorrow night is brutal for the lakers.  In Denver on the second night of a back to back.

Early 4th quarter. Knecht is still the only other Lakers player with more than 2 baskets. Knecht is still stuck on 3. No help for Luka & A Reaves.

Oh hang on. G Vincent just hit a heave at the buzzer as I posted that. He is on 3 buckets now as well. Progress.

Luka had 45pts in 36min on 14-27 FGA 10-12 FTA
A Reaves had 28pts in 34min on 10-17 FGA 4-4 FTA

Combined 73pts of 102pts for team as we enter the last 4 minutes. Knecht and Gabe are still the only other Lakers to make 3 shots. I don't think Knecht has scored in the 2nd half. I don't think he has even taken a shot in the 2nd half. Gabe is 3-10 FGA. Nobody else has made more than 2 buckets.

You can't win when you are getting that little production from your supporting cast.

Good performance by Milwaukee. Giannis with another terrific game. B Lopez with a big game. He has had a bunch of those since Kuzma joined. He looks refreshed. Best basketball he has played in years. Kevin Porter Jr was terrific off the bench. Lillard with a good game. Milwaukee are pretty good.

Bucks blown out the Lakers tonight, wild. It's what they always wanted, a 3peat. 3-game losing streak that is.

Kuminga is back with 18pts. Buddy with 16pts.

Big difference for GSW when they have those two scoring to help out Jimmy & Steph. They had been looking overly dependent on their two scorers. Buddy still inconsistent. We'll see if Kuminga can be the answer here. Give them a dependable 3rd scorer.
