What is the deal? Says the Knicks are sending additional salary to the Hornets. Is that Mitchell Robinson? I don't think it'll be Hart.

It's going to be fun to watch Thibs fume over Kat's defensive rotations.

Did Thibs coach Towns before, in Minnesota?

I think he did.

I looked it up. Thibs coached Towns for 2 years. 2017-18 and 2018-19. They were 47-35 in 2018. Thibs fired midway through season in 2019 at 19-21 after 40 games. Minny were 27th and 24th in defensive efficiency those 2 years.

Towns averaged 23ppg 12.5rpg 3apg 1.5bpg 53% FG% 40% 3PT%. That was also his quiet playoff series in 2018. 15ppg 13rpg 47% FG% and 27% 3PT%.

You have to imagine Thibs signed off on this. That he wanted to coach Towns again. That his first hand knowledge of him was a factor in this decision.

The 2017/18 season was when they had Jimmy Butler.  He was the primary reason they had a winning season.  Butler was traded to Philly early in 2018/19 season and Minny went back to their losing ways.

Per the ESPN story, Hornets are being brought in to make the trade work financially.  No mention of any Hornets players just trade exception so don't know how that works.

Minny is also getting a protected 1st round pick (Pistons) via New York.

Wow. Knicks are gonna be unstoppable now...heavy favorites to win the East that lineup?

Looks like your schtick is starting early

Knicks are unstoppable? You can?t believe this. Celtics won the title and got better but you think the Knicks are the heavy favorites to win the east?

Whatever Sparz predicts, be sure to bet the opposite. You?ll make a pile of money doing that  :police:

With the Knicks being heavy favorites, you should be able to get some good odds on the Celts.

My prediction, this will mess with the Knicks chemistry...They lost some key pieces this off season.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

I think on the whole this makes some sense for the Knicks. Playing a Towns/Bridges/OG/Hart/Brunson lineup at least gives them the spacing to optimize Brunson offensively, and that's worth a lot.

On the other hand they now have a mediocre defensive PG and a mediocre defensive center. That's a tough combination if you hope to match up with the Celtics. The c's can now just run a PnR in either direction either with Jaylen/Jayson and either a guard or center and get a favorable matchup. It's asking Bridges and OG to do a lot defensively. But thats the problem with spacing centers, there are very few that are above average both ways.

With KAT being traded and Klay Thompson moving on from GSW earlier this year there are only a few active players in the entire league who have been with their current team longer than Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have been with the Celtics:

Curry (15 seasons)
Draymond (12)
Giannis (11)
Embiid (10)
Jokic, Turner, Booker, Kevon Looney (9)
Brown, Murray (8)
Tatum, Fox, Adebayo, Maxi Kleber (7)

LOL at Kleber and Looney holding on as long as they have.

Edwards & Towns are close friends so they can?t be too happy..but think Minny gotta make sure they can sign Edwards to a mega deal is one reason Towns was traded to free up cash in the future?like this deal better for minny than Knicks thou
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Love it for both teams. Randles a better fit next to Gobert and Towns is a beter fit with Brunson.

Minny getting DiVincenzo is sneaky - they need someone like that off the bench.

man this seasons going to be so much fun.

I think NY got the best player , maybe not the best deal. ?.looks like Knicks won that

I d traded Rudy , kept KAT myself . ?.. On TWolves team?.oh well.

I think it hurts wolves more .  Randle is getting a lot of hard miles on himself , may not hold up.

NY pulling out all stops to beat Boston

I only know the limited times I watched KAT. Seems like a talented offensive player with great size, can hit the three. Can dominate and be invisible. Seemed to me that he can fade toward the end of games.  Definitely not a guy to rely on as a team leader. Seems to me like a good guy but also with tendency to slack a bit on effort.  Randle seemed to embody a Knick culture of energy and aggressive play, but often injured.  It?s interesting to me that KAT and Thibodeau were together a few years back and that Thibideau wants him on the Knicks. I wouldn?t have guessed that these two would work well.  If they do, that?s a good sign for NY as that means KAT buys into Thibs approach.  He?ll get worked hard and we?ll see how he holds up.
