The New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves are working through the framework of a trade involving Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo for Karl-Anthony Towns, according to league sources. Teams still working through details but talks have intensified over last 24 hours.

Well this seems out of nowhere...

Not gonna lie, I actually don't like this for NY. I feared Randle more than KAT. KAT is gonna get abused defensively. I know they needed a center with Robinson missing some time but KAT doesn't seem like the guy. And they are also losing Divencenzo probably.

Without DiVincenzo, they don't have a good shooting wing to go small with Anunoby at PF. They have to play a dodgy shooter in Josh Hart. I was loving the idea of Brunson with a 5 out offense. 4 knock down shooters with Towns at center. That would unguardable.

G: Brunson
G: J Hart
F: Mikal Bridges
F: Anunoby
C: Towns

I wonder if they are planning on a twin towers approach ala Minnesota instead.

G: Brunson
G: Mikal Bridges
F: Anunoby
F: Towns
C: M Robinson

G: Conley, R Dillingham
G: Ant, NAW
F: Jaden McDaniels, DiVincenzo
F: Randle, Joe Ingles
C: Gobert, Naz Reid

That is a strong 9 man rotation. Ingles as 10th man. Strong 8 man rotation without Dillingham. A combo guard in NAW. A combo wing in DiVincenzo. A combo big in Naz Reid. Lots of lineup flexability there for a basic 8 man rotation.

Minny's shooting in that starting lineup has taken a big step back. Even less floor spacing for Ant now with Randle (streaky mediocre efficiency shooter) instead of KAT (high level shooter).

I like Towns next to Brunson more than I do Randle. Randle is more of an on-ball player. Towns an off-ball player. Towns is the better fit for a ball dominant guard like Brunson.

Now they have three supporting stars in Towns, Anunboy and Mikal Bridges who are all more off-ball type support stars around Brunson. That is ideal for a ball dominant main star.

Towns disappears in the playoffs

This makes the Knicks worse defensively.

Randle played the Celtics tough.

Knicks bench is not very good.

Rumor is more has to go out for the Knicks to complete this deal

Looks like your schtick is starting early

Knicks are unstoppable? You can?t believe this. Celtics won the title and got better but you think the Knicks are the heavy favorites to win the east?

KAT is an upgrade over Randle, mostly.  I might have preferred better rim protection behind their terrific perimeter defenders.  Hard for those wings to be as aggressive with KAT manning the paint.

I respect the balls though.  They?re going for it.

Dislike the deal for Minny.  You?re sabotaging your best player with that dodgy spacing from Randle and nonexistent spacing from Gobert.

How did the C's get better with no addition other than Lonnie Walker while everyone else improved their roster lol. I think the KAT acquisition makes them the 1-seed in the East

Lol.

Like clockwork - Sparz greatly overestimating a rival over the Cs at the start of the season!

I think it improves New York some but not a lot. Their shooting is much better from the bigs, though they lost ring shooting in DD and there?s alot of new parts that have to figure out how to work together. It?ll be interesting to see how effective Towns can be with the ball in his hands quite a bit less now given how ball dominant Brunson is, as well as Bridges and OG needing the ball. Defensively, I think it hurts them quite a bit. Randle is just a better rebounder and is much less of a stiff on the perimeter where Towns will be exposed.

Not sure what Minny is doing. I think this makes them worse given how much they needed Towns? shooting. I?m guessing it?s just a money thing.
