Curry is borderline Top 10 in my book, definitely top 15.

Jordan, Lebron, Kareem, Russell, Magic, Chamberlain, Bird, Shaq, Duncan, are all in my top 9.

There?s an argument for Kobe, Steph, Dr. J, Hakeem, Jerry West, and Oscar Robertson for #10. But I think that puts him squarely in the top 15.

I think an argument (albeit not a very strong one) can be made for Curry being top 5. Of the guys the OP listed, how many won titles as the best player on their team? Curry did it 4 times. He's also the only player in NBA history to be the unanimous MVP in the 2015-2016 season. Not arguably, he is the greatest shooter the league has ever seen. He also puts non-stop stress on the defense because he is constantly in motion, has one of the quickest releases the game has ever seen, and can shoot and make shots from anywhere on the court. If your making an All-time team, he is definitely in the argument with Magic at PG.

Was he better than Durant on those title teams?

Not even close. I?d take Kobe every day of the week over Curry. Come on people. Geez. He?s lucky to crack a top 10 list, which I don?t have him on.

Curry wasn't the MVP of his first title team... He was only the finals MVP one year... Jerry West was a finals MVP when his team lost in the finals.

This is an interesting one, though, because Curry & co. replaced Durant with Harrison Barnes and still won titles.

Curry won, repeatedly, without Durant, but Durant thus far hasn't been able to win without Curry.

I think that's my definitive top-7, in no particular order.  Nobody is breaking into that list any time soon.
Yeah, it's hard to argue against those 7. I've also got Duncan, Hakeem, and Oscar definitely ahead of Curry, no question, so Curry doesn't make my top 10.

I think the interesting question is who ranks higher: Curry or Durant?

By the resume, I think Curry edges ahead of Durant. More league MVP's, more championships, a transformational player... but when they played together, both in their primes, Durant was clearly better. Durant walked on to Curry's team and won 2 FMVP's. The second one was particularly impressive because everyone was dying to give it to Steph but they couldn't because of how much better Durant was.

So what do you do? Look at the entire career or look at the clearest possible comparison you couldn't ever make between 2 players and trust what happened?

Given the consensus top-7 list just mentioned, I am not sure either Steph or Kobe are in the top-10. Both in the 11-15 range along with Durant.

Good list though I have this involuntary gut wrench when I see Lebron's name because I consider him to be competitively inferior.
Undeniable pure talent/athleticism, but like Phil Jackson, he has always looked for a ready-made winner to jump aboard.

No, but he deserved the MVP for that finals.

I think it's a bit more forgivable for coaches for two reasons.
One - you're only going to be as successful as your roster allows you to be, and two - different coaches get the most out of different rosters.

Stevens is a good example of point two: a great coach for getting the most out of 'underdog'-level players and teams, not the best coach for leading a roster with the talent to contend for a title.
