Tillman would look on the Knicks as their backup center.

He'd suit Thibs well.

That would be a good fit. How much do the Knicks have left to sign a guy for?

It looks like The Jazz, Hornets, and Spurs are the only teams with cap space. Is there a good fit on one of those teams?

The Knicks are unlikely to have more than the $5 million a year MLE to use.  They would need to make a significant trade to bring the bigger MLE into play.

I think Tillman is a 5 million a year player but there are always teams willing to over pay.

The reason I like Tillman for this group is his physicality. I don't really see us having many good defensive match ups (not named 39 year old Al Horford) against guys like Embiid, Giannis, Jokic and other big physical players 4's and 5's. Tillman plays a bit like Grant Williams in this regards and that is valuable come playoff time. At the same time he has the ability to guard threes and twos on pick and roll plays, much like Grant did - for example, he played some nice D on Doncic when we needed it. He brings a defensive physicality that we generally lack in the frontcourt.

Certainly, we will survive without him, but for the right money he brings a very valuable defensive component to our team - I hope we re-sign him.

He also seems like a really good fit for us character/chemistry wise.

My guess is that Tillman and Giannis are going to get to know each other really well.

Ok. X needs to move in with Al this summer.  He needs to get on Al's nutritional plan and shoot a million 3s.

Hopefully he will have a bigger role

With KP out to start the season and with Al in an even more limited regular season role than last season (hopefully - we need to keep him fresh), it's likely Tillman will be getting regular minutes. He can also play forward, so even if Kornet and Queta are manning the Center spot, he can still be out there.

Two years at the minimum.

I am surprised Tillman couldn't get more than that.

Xavier Tillman's deal is fully guaranteed for two years at the minimum, sources tell @TheAthletic.

Wow. At the vet min that's a no brainer for Brad. Add me to the group of those surprised there isn't more of a market for Tillman.

Wow.  Huge win.  He can't even leave if he has a breakout year.
