Does this affect daily business now and does this affect JT's extension?

God help us if we get an inept ownership group like the Suns got.

I doubt it changes anything in the short or even medium term. Like any ownership change in a company people will talk about it and wonder who the new folks in charge are and if it affects their jobs but they still have to do their jobs day to day.

It's the longer term, once the sale is completed, that we might see any philosophical differences come out, like desire to get out of the luxury tax, second apron, etc. You'd assume that the "if it aint broke don't fix it" principle would apply, whoever the new owners would be would not want to devalue their asset. Wyc is staying till 2028 so there will be some continuity.

Wow. I hope this isn't a bad thing.

It looks like the new ownership won?t be finalized til 2028 so we still have a few more years to enjoy this team. I hope JT still signs up for the max extension.

i get that value is at an all time high, but there's got to be some uncertainty on the horizon for all these owners to want to sell within just a few years of each other. they aren't that old. i wonder where they are putting the money where they expect to preserve/grow it better than within their teams' value, which all have fantastic track records of appreciation.

Good question

Remember there was a time when we thought Wyc was cheap and we wanted him to sell the team? And now that he has we're like "please Wyc don't go!"

That the worst case scenario. Guy is an ex college hoops player with a giant ego who thinks he knows what he's doing, then acts too fast and screws up his team for many years to come. It's happened before, it will happen again. Hopefully not here.

Wyc always mentioned that the owners were fans of the team first. Hope that is a prerequisite for the buyers.

Yep, A real man of the people. Team wins the first championship in 16 years and then they immediately go to sell the team.  ::)

I hope the new owner is not another John Henry or Robert Kraft.

This occurred to me as well.  Fans would howl about how cheap the owners were every time a TPE or something expired or when they wouldn't trade for Nerlens Noel or something like that.

I think these owners have been solid overall, it is very likely that the new owners will not be as smart, savvy, whatever.  I would think that owning a good NBA team would be fun.  Maybe it is good business to sell right now, but how fun is that?

I really doubt that they would sell the team to someone who isn't a Celtics Fan.

I like how Wyc is spending money to keep this team together for 3-4 years....Keep signing guys-!!

i believe wyc has said publicly multiple times that he views ownership of the team as a stewardship of the team for the city. i know that's partly PR-speak. but i think he believes it too. i just hope the dollar signs don't soften his view.

People are joking about Lebron buying the Celtics, but isn't Lebron part of FSG? What if Henry and FSG actually do buy the franchise lol, then technically Lebron will be a part-owner of this team
