So Brad has had his eyes on him since two years ago? You have to be amazed at Brad?s work ethic.

He's not executive of the year for nothing!  I've been super impressed by the moves that BS made after succeeding Danny Ainge.  He's really worked hard and done a great job of shaping this roster into a championship team.

Now how do we keep the run going is the important question.

Late round draft picks are notoriously difficult to get right because most of the good talent gets taken ahead of you.  Hopefully one of Scheierman/Anton can stick with the team a few years and become a contributor.

Scheierman has pretty decent ballhandling/passing skills for a wing.  So hopefully he can carve out a role as a ballhandler/shooter 2 guard.  The real questionmark is his defense at the NBA level as he wasn't really known for that.

Brad works hard, so I'm not questioning that with this post.  I guess I don't know if it is a good thing he has been on him for 2 years. Does that mean he didn't loom enough at other players, was he so set on Baylor he missed something, etc.  Probably not because it is Brad, but there is a potential downside to long term recruitment/scouting/etc.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

It's just weird how often you try to take the negative viewpoint. My in-laws are all like that too. Like the only way to have a conversation is to poke holes in what the other is saying.

The idea that because Brad has been keeping an eye on BAS for two years does not mean he only had an eye on him. He has clearly kept his eyes on a lot of players that he brought into the team over the last several years. He may have had a list of 20 or more players he liked in this draft, with only a few that may be available with this pick, but BAS was on the top of the list.

He probably has a list of hundreds of guys in various classes in college and hundreds more in high school, as well as hundreds more around the world. He goes to many games, has many meetings, and brings many players in for workouts. He's sowing seeds that may be harvested years down the line. His mindset is to genuinely invest in players and their success. Some guys he may love but not have the opportunity to acquire for years (ahem Jrue Holiday).

He continues to be one of the best basketball front office minds and men in the NBA. If he liked BAS, then I'm confident there's a possibility he can helps us in the future.

That's a big reach IMO.

It's not like he's just one guy recruiting the entire world of basketball.  Brad has a ton of scouting manpower at his disposal.

Brad is a basketball junkie. There's no doubt he looked at everyone. He did throw people off with his comment about drafting young prospects...

IMO, Scheierman will turn out to be the best player we've drafted since Tatum (that is, apart from Bane).

I see a lot of Gordon Hayward in his game.  His go to spin in the lane step back jumper is very Gordon like.

The thing I like about Baylor is that it seems he can be a playmaker too. Hauser is more of a pure shooter and catch-and-shoot guy, and yes he's a solid defender (not a liability at all), but Baylor gives you that added dimension of playmaking and rebounding in addition to getting buckets.

Is prime Joe Ingles a good comparison? I think so. Both lefties, and Ingles helps contribute to winning and is a good shooter but he can do a lot of the little things well also. Get some assists, grab some boards, limit the mistakes, hit 5 three-pointers in a game, a mix of it all.

If pick #30 turns out to be an Ingles-like player for this roster that's a big get from Brad. It's fine if he turns into like the 7th-8th man on our loaded roster. I think his ceiling could even be a real 6th man. He's got the height and athleticism to reach that if he hits his ceiling.

It's telling to me that Brad made this selection despite the luxury tax concerns AND was willing to not pick someone like Filipowski. Shows how decisive the front office was and probably shows that they really love the player.

"He's bigger and a little different, but Luke Kennard was also a high school quarterback and plays kind of similarly, so that's something fans at home can think about," Celtics assistant general manager Austin Ainge told NBC Sports Boston's Chris Forsberg on the Celtics Talk Podcast."

Joe Ingles? career stats are similar to another Creighton alumni, Doug McDermott. If Baylor sticks around for 10 years and has similar numbers that would be a good result for pick #30.

If he has a Danny Ainge level career, that would be phenomenal.
