2024 NBA Draft Thread

Like the pick.  Either Baylor or Flip.  I would have been ok with Furphy as well. Brad picked a player for the here and now and the future.  Baylor IMO will play from day 1.  PP, Baylor, Hauser on the 2nd unit.  3 lights out shooters.  I thought Flip was more of a need and was my top choice.  I know they worked out Baylor.  Did they work out filipowski?

Watched a lot of Creighton games and Scheierman played very hard. He has unlimited range but can also score inside the arc. Automatic from the FT line. Passes well also.

The big thing is he rebounds like a beast. 9 a game. Fans in Boston will love him.

He isn't a project. He is ready to play at 23 and will have a roll on this team IMO.

He is insurance for Sam but having them both off the bench would be pretty crazy in Joe's system.

How does he compare to Knecht?

More of a complete player. Better rebounder. Better defender. Feel like he has his hands in the game more if that makes sense.

His raw numbers across the board are better in every category. What stands out is the rebounding. 9 boards a game in that conference is ridiculous. He also is a better passer and IMO sees /thinks the game better.

I think they can get a big at 54 perhaps, there's Dante who played at Oregon and had and 28 and 20 in the tourney, also Enrique Freeman who smaller and more of a 4. they can bring Kornet and Tillman back and there always some big they can find

No one they draft there will be NBA ready this season. It's either Kornet, Tillman or they sign someone.

Seems like a guy that can play a role in our system one day. Will look forward to seeing him in the summer league.

54 will be a developmental 2 way player.

Cs would not have picked in the first round if they did not think they could get a guy that could fill needs immediately off the bench. They need Scheierman to be able to play now and with his age and experience he should be.

I think Filipowksi would have been my preference, but Scheierman was a clear first round pick and they got him at #30. Seems like a guy with a pretty decent chance to help them sooner rather than later. Hauser insurance. Not a bad pick at all.

is the expectation that the C's resign Kornet?   How much is that going to cost?  He will def make more than the 2.4 mil that we paid him this year right?

if the C's are going to pay to bring him back even if it costs more, then the Baylor pick makes perfect sense.  If not, then we end up trolling around for another decent big.

Lesser athlete which may limit his finishing ability and defensive upside.  Better decision-maker with the ball in his hands (Knecht can really score but doesn't run offense all that well).  Probably a slight tick down as a shooter, though both are good. 

Knecht is a better prospect (I think he's a solid starter in this league, as much as I hate that he's going to the Lakers) but I do think Scheierman can play.  I believe in the offense.  Will need to see him defend at an NBA level to see whether he can crack a rotation.

Great pick, kind of reminds me of old Celtic Legend Luke Harangody.

As weak as the draft was at the top, I think there was real talent in the post lottery and Brad did well to come away with a rock solid prospect with some real upside as a shooter.

Judah Mintz is interesting. Ball dominant PG who can get to the hoop and score - but can't shoot the 3. He can defend. He's one of those 'what if' types. If he can develop a 3pt  shot, he could be an all star. But the odds aren't in favor of that happening.

Yes, yes and yes.

Surprised to see Knecht fall that far and I naturally want to see him do well in the pros as long as the Lakers continue to flounder. 
Though maybe we want the Lakers to improve enough to make it to the finals so we can win another head-to-head series with them.

Any info on why Knecht fell out of the top 10 picks I saw him predicted to make ?

Given our significant need for post depth, signing Tillman seems like an easy decision.
The guy can play and is the one post player we have who doesn't get pushed around. (IF JOE WILL PLAY HIM)

Also think it's important to keep Hauser, even with the addition of Scheierman, who I am thrilled to get.
Where we have seen title winners fail to repeat of late has been not keeping their important rotation players, like Hauser, Tillman and Pritchard for us (though I know Pritchard is already on his extension). We gotta pay while the titles are out there to be won.
