Seems to be a lot more rumblings about Simons to Houston since the Van Fleet injury.  There was also one who speculated Pritchard to Houston rather than Simons.

No way is Pritchard getting moved.  He provides the Celtics too much value at his contract - the Rockets would need to send out something very valuable in return.

Simons would be difficult because it means FVV is traded back to match salary, and he can veto any trade.  Such a trade would likely see the Celtics asking for draft compensation 2-3 years into the future I would think, since the Celtics would be taking on $25 million in future salary for a 32 year-old coming off an ACL.

Also, even if FVV waived his no-trade clause, he still cannot be traded until 12/15, so nothing is happening soon.

I still say that Jrue Holiday is the player the HOU should target.

The lateral movement is what will be most effected.

OK, who's starting the Celtics 25-26 Season Thread.  I'm a lowly near 3K poster, so I figured one of the mods would.

I have pretty much zero excitement about the Cs at this time. Tatum's absence is the obvious downer, but I'm also bummed about the domino effect that has had: Zinger and Holiday gone for financial reasons, then Horford gone because he knew that the team's title chances this season are virtually nil. I understand that some people are looking forward to how Brown, White, and Pritchard step up, how first- and second-year players develop, etc., but that kind of thing just doesn't light my fire as a fan. I expect the team to get better as the season improves--that should be true of all teams--but this team has basically no depth, or bigs, so I think their ceiling is pretty low, even in a weak conference. I'm expecting that the beginning of the season will be especially rough, what with all the new (and mostly mediocre) guys. And I think they're gonna get eaten alive inside.

Still pretty quiet on the Simons trade front.  Looking more and more like he will start the season on the roster (which I am fine with).  I saw where Austin Reaves turned down 4 years, about $90M back in June.  I am still not sure how good Reaves is.  He can score, but so can Simons.  Reaves is longer, but is he any better on defense?

If Simons is pretty much what most expect him to be, a score first guard who can average 20 pts/gm, is he really all that much different than Reaves?  Reaves turned down 4 years/$90M, would Simons take that right now if BOS offered it?

I know many have made up their mind on Simons already, but I am looking forward to seeing him in a Celtics uniform.  I don't feel like I have a good read on him based on his stats in POR.  I have not seen him play all that much.  And we have heard so little from him since the trade.

This roster is horrendous. The fact Queta is going to start is really sad.

Bench isn't much better.

I would feel a lot better if we had an actual center, even if it was just "Joe average". Someone who you know can just play the position decently and be alright. We just don't have that. Queta is still a work in progress too. I actually love Boucher but to me he's more a PF and probably not a regular 30-35+ MPG guy either

So I'm still in the tank mode.

I'm sure JT can come back if he wants to in the spring, but Brad needs to put the clamp on that. Get a Top-10 lottery pick hopefully, and build for beyond 2026.

I did read that Houston with the loss of Van Fleet might be in the market, but the same story also noted they might prefer Pritchard.

Of course they would prefer Pritchard, he?s 6th man of the year and on a super team friendly contract.
