An owner who just opens the checkbook and gets out of the way isn't a good owner.
Are you sure about that?

Bad contracts are a GM/front office problem, but tight purse strings don't help anyone.

Wyc and Joe both surprised me equally.  I didn't think Wyc would authorize the spending (particularly in future years), and I didn't think the players would embrace Joe as a "genius" and "psycho".

I hope they both continue to prove me wrong for the rest of this era.
When was Wyc unwilling to spend in the past?  What move didn't get done because he was unwilling to spend?  Was it really that he was unwilling to spend or was he just being judicious?  When was the last time the Celtics had a bad contract on the books?   An owner who just opens the checkbook and gets out of the way isn't a good owner.

We let multiple trade exceptions / disabled player exceptions expire, and we used multiple draft picks to dump salary. We just traded a first rounder to replenish our stock of second rounders.  In that time period, Wyc made enormous profits.

A good owner is somebody who hires good management (which he had), then opens the checkbook and gets out of the way.

I thought that we would have no killer instinct without Marcus.

I feel bad for him. He bled green and left it all on the court.

I thought the playoffs would be more of a struggle than they were.

4-1, 4-1, 4-0, 4-1 is absolutely ridiculous.

Still think Denver was the only team that would have pushed Boston.

To me Indiana was the toughest opponent.

Celtics absolutely did what they had to and it was indeed impressive?.but if you told me the matchups they got and the injuries the other teams had I would?ve expected exactly what they did

I kinda can?t believe the Marcus reminiscing im seeing/hearing.

The team needed to move on from him to take this step, sorry

Yes. Don't think really was a positive presence in the lockerroom. His hero ball late in games was an albatross.

I thought Joe might need a couple more years. Winning a ring in his second year is impressive.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Thought the Holiday trade was not needed and it affected our depth. Truth be told, we absolutely needed him in the run. His calm presence, veteran leadership, championship experience (with MIL) AND great defensive abilities were massive in this run. I loved Smart but idk if Smart could have offered the same this year, and at times he just had an ego and shot us out of games with poor decisions or literally just chucking up and missing bad shots. Jrue made many good decisions this run. And you can tell the team fed off him at times.

I still wish we won with Smart too, but it is what it is.

ALSO as others have mentioned, I had my doubts on if this team could win close games late and "in the clutch". Well they won a handful of games like that in the playoffs, particularly the ECF and Finals. Now you can say a few of those games like Game 1 of ECF were largely due to the other team, but there's also the matter on capitalizing on those moments. Not sure if the 2022 or 2023 teams could do that.

The C's had close games in Game 2 and 3 against two of the clutchest end-of-game performers in the league (Luka and Kyrie), and they came out on top in both. Lot of it also had to do with great defense, which was an identity of our team.

sooooooo many things. among them....

1. hauser will fail as a useful bench player because he cannot play defense.

2. peyton's defense and size will make him unplayable.

Joe and questioning whether he could lead us to the Finals in the next few years without more experience was my biggest miss. He?s far from perfect, but after a subpar year last year he was much better this year and got better as the year went on.

Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.
