DeShaun Watson torn his Achilles for the 2nd time & will probably miss next season?I can?t remember a bigger bust of a trade in any sports..anyone got one worst??

I'd be hard-pressed to come up with something worse. Especially when you factor in the contract aspect of it.

To HOU:  CLE 1st round picks in 2022, 2023, & 2024.  CLE 4th round pick 2022, CLE 3rd round pick 2023, CLE 4th round 2024

To CLE:  Deshaun Watson, HOU 6th round pick 2024

CLE signs Deshaun Watson to 5 year $230M GUARANTEED contract

As I recall, CLE was way outside what anyone else was offering.  You could just tell this wasn't going to end well for them.  But I didn't expected to go this badly.  At least they have their picks moving forward at this point.  They can start to rebuild through the draft to some extent.

I never understand how they figure cap hit for these NFL contracts but per Spotrac, it is about $73M for both 2025 and 2026.  I guess with a cap max per team of $275M, they still have enough to work with but yikes, what a disaster.

Basically, the cap hit involves their base salary for that particular year plus a prorated amount of the signing bonus.  So the bonus is spread out over the life of the contract. Then, if you have a restructure, that amount also gets prorated and factored into the cap hit for the year.  The restructure just kicks the can down the road in terms of cap hit because its converting base salary into bonus.

I could be wrong but I think I vaguely heard someone on ESPN mention that the Browns actually have some insurance on if Watson were to miss significant time and if that's true, they could get back a good amount of the cap space, but probably not until 2026 and 2027. But by then it could still be a huge sum of money added to their reported cap space each of those years.

It has to do with the nature of the injury, where it occurred and if the Browns were aware of all the treatment/rehab stuff going on. It's a bit complex.

Either way, he's done in Cleveland. That was a disaster, and the fans HATE him already. In fact some cheered when he got hurt on the field when he did. I don't think CLE fans are feeling bad about the news.

Texans have been absolutely awful to start, and Chargers only have a 6-0 lead to show for it.

Probably doesn't bode well for the Chargers

Got lucky there too, Texans blocked the punt but luckily for LAC it rolled back a bit and helped

Stroud with another pick.

This game is doing a fine job of honoring the tradition of crappy early Saturday wild card games. This is painful to watch.

And another INT lol. Brutal 2nd half from Herbert.

Unfortunately this probably also means KC is gonna slaughter Houston next round. I would have given the Chargers a legit chance because their team is balanced and with a good HC (Harbaugh) but they can't even beat Houston and Herbert looks so bad today.

Really didn't expect this game to be a blowout but dang, 32-12 HOU.

Horrible showing from the Chargers and Herbert.

Typical Chargers chargering. Nothing changed even with a new and recognized head coach.

Maybe the issue is Herbert. Phillip Rivers 2.0

Steelers are really just becoming another team that makes it and is basically a "bye week" for the opponents. So far BAL looks like they'll dominate this.

Ladd McConkey had 9 rec for 197 yards and a TD today. Really glad the Pats traded that pick to LAC and drafted Polk instead. Thanks Wolf!  :blank:

Second half has been a different story.  Huge stop just now by the Ravens. Looked like Pittsburgh was on the move again.  Ravens need to move the ball again or they may be in a game.

Think the Steelers can pull a 2010 and come back to stun Baltimore?
