Why is Joe keeping a clearly hurting KP in the game?!?!
He wasn't.
Oh?
He had Big Al up waiting, when no dead ball moment happened he called a time out. Sure in hindsight we would've liked for him to call a time out right away, but in practicality not really an issue.
He had KP play at least an extra position both offensively and defensively when he was clearly hurt. Why?
It isn't hindsight. It's recognizing a problem in the moment. We already saw the same thing play out in the first round, with Joe's slowness to react leading to increased severity of the calf injury.
If it was that bad, KP could've just fouled someone. Easy for us to recognize this kind of things from the luxury of our TV screen. People in the sidelines often don't see when someone is hurt right away, that's pretty much universal no matter who's the coach.
KP was limping sure, but he was still moving. It only because obvious when he jumped.
It's not like KP moves gracefully when he is healthy.
Almost no coach, to say none, sits a player, particularly one of your better players, because you are limping after a play unless it looks like it's persisting.
Heck the other day in the first quarter Luka was asking to get removed from the game and he didn't get his wish until a dead ball occurred and this is someone actually asking to come out.
So yeah, I think this expectation that someone is going to be removed from the game right away because of some limping is unreasonable particularly when they had the sub already at the scorers table to enter at next dead ball moment, when it didn't occur in a timely fashion a time out was called. In the 4th quarter mind you, when time outs are premium in a close game.
In all, a none issue as far as I'm concerned.
