An NBA Finals win has me a little giddy, so I'm breaking out a good old-fashioned MVP Poll (there was a time when I did these religiously after every game!).

Huge spark by Porzingis tonight.  Such a great return when they needed him.  He was especially during a stretch in the 2nd when the offense had gone stagnant and Dallas's D was intensifying.  Really miraculous.

Solid team effort on the defensive end all night.  Hard to rate the rest of the team because they spread it around so much.

My ratings:

3 - KP (see above)
2 - JB - some huge plays in response to Dallas's run after they'd cut it to 8.
1 - JT - I'm reluctant to give him a point here because I though he came out a little tight and had some mental lapses, but he was solid on the glass and distributed the ball well, plus I can't think of who else to give a point to and I kinda want to go to bed.

3 more for a title!

Let's GOOOOO!
Yup

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Oops, I only voted once for KP. He just blew the game up in the 1st quarter and left DAL chasing us for the rest of the game. I loved Jaylen in the 2nd half of the 3rd. I thought Jrue, Al, and White were solid. I thought Tatum came out super-unselfishly and orchestrated our big 1st. And I couldn't be happier that Hauser found his shot again.

But MVP for this one game, it's got to be KP.

KP. He was a walking mismatch and Mavs had no answer

All 3 votes go to Porzingis.

While Brown was great, his free-throw shooting almost shot us out the game with the momentum. Which is why I still need to have my hashtag on, at least until, as promised, if the Celtics win banner 18 this June.

Likewise - only voted once, agree with the analysis.

KP had a KG like game the first half . If not for Doncic’s performance, they would have been beat by 50 .

It was definitely Jaylen.  As great as KP was, he only played 21 minutes.  They were very crucial minutes that the Celtics needed, but Jaylen played great on both ends and played 37 minutes, slowing down Luka (to a degree)

I didn’t use all my 6 votes lol coz I gave Brown the edge over KP. KP was big but Brown righted the ship and made a lot of big plays. JT had a good game (tho the TO’s sucked) but it wasn’t “finals MVP”-worthy

Come on guys...according to the talking heads it wasn't anything the Celtics did defensively to disrupt Dallas. The Mavs just missed shots. And according the Wilbon, they won't miss those shots in game 2.
