Lot of experts are picking Dallas in game 2..am I’m missing something here? I said Celtics in 5 & still sticking to it..if Tatum plays great & Celtics hit little more 3s, they win by 15 or more Sunday…Celtics are the Rodney Dangerfield of the NBA, no respect

Dallas has never lost a Game 2 in the playoffs this year. In addition, they've made some pretty solid adjustments after losing Game 1s in their earlier series. Kyrie won't play like crap again that's for sure.

I think Dallas will play better Sunday. But I also think Boston will too.

I expect Dallas to be a volume 3 point shooting team. Kyrie will be aggressive. I think Kidd will push jones, Washington, Kleber to shoot more from 3. Will it be enough? Also think hardy gets more minutes.

Dallas will be Uber physical with KP and Tatum.

Still not sure how they can guard Boston and I like the looks they are giving to Luka defensively. He has to work to score.

Defense is the one thing that can carry you in the playoffs. Boston needs to counter the early Dallas run.

Game twos are not Boston’s strength and they are Dallas’s.

If Boston wins I think it puts Dallas one foot in the grave

for those you here who enjoy tasting laker tears.

https://lakersball.com/threads/nba-finals-2024-discussion-go-mavs.4083/page-4#post-532458

I love it !!! Laker fans remain bitter and jealous as always.

Their claims that Boston's success is based on a small league vs loaded Celtics' teams in the 60's is so funny. First of all, loading a team with great players is kinda the point, yes ? A smaller league means talent is more concentrated and opponents are faced more often. Red was a genius the way he saw how good Russell was going to be and then working his magic to acquire the necessary draft position. Another small note, 5 of the Lakers' titles were pre-historic with the franchise in a different city. Two of those early championships were not even NBA titles, but were won in some innocuous league long forgotten.

As for the 80's, has anyone stopped to think what would have happened if the Lakers had drafted James Worthy only to lose him the way we lost Len Bias ?

So according to Mike Gorman Cryrie had a running battle with a fan that possibly distracted him from the game.

Quote
“Kyrie, who is now 0-11 against the Celtics (since stomping on the logo) by the way was really sad last night,” Gorman said during an appearance on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Toucher and Hardy. “He was very busy during the game. I’ve never seen this. He had a running dialogue with a guy in the sixth row. He’s running up and down the court, and he’s yelling at this guy. It’s just crazy.”

Gorman said the interaction happened for several minutes during the game and that it seemed to distract Irving. Irving had a rough game, shooting 6-for-19 from the field, including 0-for-5 from 3-point range.

“The guy kept on him,” Gorman continued. “And then Kyrie started looking at this guy and pointing at him and mouthing a variety of things at this guy. Next thing you know, the ball’s inbounds and Kyrie’s dealing with this guy. It went on for maybe two or three possessions.”

“One of the possessions, he made a couple moves, he couldn’t do anything and decided to turn around and decided to go back-and-forth with the guy again. It was crazy. I’ve never really seen that.”

Gorman said he was sitting about nine rows back from midcourt and the fan who went back and forth with Irving was about four rows back. Gorman said the amount of attention Irving gave the fan during the game was bizarre.

“Once he had his attention it was all you could see, and it wasn’t like it was during a timeout,” Gorman said. “You see that stuff all the time where somebody yells at somebody during a time out, but not while the game is in progress. And he just didn’t let it go.”

Yup , it’s pretty much do or die for Mavs , if they go down 2-0 , they sunk . They ll inject pain killer in Lucas knee or leg , he ll get 45 with the injection.

Celtics need to hold home court .

Obviously I like the Celtics in this series but if they go up 2-0, they did exactly what they were suppose to do and win their home games, if the mavs do their job and win their home games it’ll be a 3 game series.

Boston wins one in Dallas. If they can win tomorrow they will come home at worst up 3-1.

Dallas has lost at least one home game in each series this playoffs while as you know Boston has yet to lose on the road.

Game 2 is the tricky one given Boston propensity to lose game 2s at home and Dallas being very good in road game 2s

For what it’s worth, the Celtics played their best game of the Pacers series in game 2

I doubt Dallas will score 89 again, they will surely increase that in the upcoming games. But I'm still not sure how they can limit Boston to under 105 most games. Even Game 1, the C's had that 10-minute stretch between the 2:00 mark in the 2nd quarter and 4:00 mark in the 3rd where they scored only 14 points. They also missed a lot of open shots early on. I didn't think they were that awesome either and they got 107 rather easily IMO.

Mavs aren't gonna beat the C's on defense, they'll have to hope to outscore them

game 2 is the series. you can just see it and feel it. C's are better on the road and will get a win at dallas. win game 2 and we will come home up 3-1 and close this out in 5. dallas will fold like a cheap lawn chair if they go down 3-1.

in normal years under normal circumstances being down 2-0 is nothing if you can win your home games and steal 1 on road. issue is the C's are UNDEFEATED on the ROAD!  we may give up 100 this game. that is fine. i want us to drop 125 or 130 on them sunday night.

as always..................

C's in 5!!!

Kyrie played like crap all OKC series being guarded by SGA. so there is a chance his poor performance was due to struggling against Brown/Jrue/White as it is he just played like garbage in a bubble.

Dallas may shoot better from 3 this next game and may get more out of kyrie. but i'm not sure what they can do on the defensive end to slow down boston. having KP back really puts Dallas at a disadvantage. we just match up really well with them.

just look at Jrue's post up score. Lively was at the 3 pt line guarding KP leaving the paint wide open for Jrue to post up PJ washington. and every tatum drive there were 3 defenders converging on him in the paint and he was able to kick it out for wide open 3's

so not sure what Dallas can do to slow us down. If they stop doubling tatum he could go off for a big game. my only fear is the refs change what they allow in game 2 and its ticky tack stuff. rather than letting us play.

Celtics win tomm night (which I think they will), this series is as good as over.

Huge game tomorrow night.
