@Boston Garden Leprechaun could post an actual selfie of himself here, and I would disagree. Every time I see this guy, I just assume it's BGL. Come on, it makes perfect sense!

Quote
Luka had 1 assist to 7 potentials, so six missed assists.

Tatum had 5 assists to FOURTEEN potentials. Nine missed assists.

Tatum was actually the guy whose teammates cost him assists.

This surely felt the case to me. Tatum was playing excellent, unselfish ball with what the defense gave him. His stat line would’ve looked a lot better if his teammates would’ve knocked more of their shots down.

So can anyone give credit for kyries bad performance to the defense from Boston? Seems to me people acting like he just shot poorly on his own.

Brown/jrue/white tortured him and he got frustrated. And Horford/kP even blocked him twice

Let’s not forget he had a poor OKC series against SGA. Averaging only 15ppg

Exhausted and currently on flight back to Chicago from Boston. Some thoughts.

- Crowd was incredible last night. Start to finish the energy was palpable. The place was shaking during that flurry to end the first quarter.

- Having KP back is making this team borderline unstoppable. Especially with the way the Celtics match up with Dallas.  Lively has no answers and KP’s simple presence on the court on the defensive end plays such an impact.  For a guy that hasn’t played in over a month,  his two way game last night was unbelievable. The team thrived off him. It was impressive.

- Tatum sucked in the Mavs focus and it really opened things up for everyone else.  Thought the Mavs did a decent job on him but the downside of that was that it really opened up great looks for everyone else.

- Luka is gonna get his but the Celtics are making him earn it.  He’s gonna need to make his teammates around him better or this is gonna be a short series.  If he keeps playing like he did last night, it plays right into the Celtics’ favor.

- 2024 playoff Jaylen is such a joy to watch. His aggressiveness and harnessed angry energy is playing a huge role in the tempo & mindset of this team.  He’s evolved into the emotional leader of this team.

- Derek had one of the most under the radar 15/5 games you’ll ever see. So steady out there.  He & Jrue providing the steadying influence.

Yep. We’ve seen it most of the playoffs so far, and it simply hasn’t worked. And with KP back it’s even more of a stretch now. It’s hard to know if this is an explicit component of the gameplan or if he just naturally draws that much attention, but you have to think Kidd changes that focus moving forward. Just too many weapons to rely on that. In particular, both Brown and KP are so good at scoring individually -especially on mismatches - that you can’t just load up on Tatum and let the others beat you, because they absolutely will.

Sure looked like it was an emphasis over something natural. He seemed to get swarmed more than others. I don't think Kidd will changes this either. They're hoping to shut down JT and rely on us being cold. That may work for a game or 2, but the mavs don't have the players to keep up with us. We can still play better too.

Back to wanting Joe fired.

who knows. i think we are being way too kind and generous to kyrie just to play it safe. he might quit on the mavs like he quit on us against the bucks. remember that series?

Apparently Luka was 1-8 vs Horford. Didn’t realize he guarded him that well.

When someone slow & plodding goes up against someone else slow & plodding.

Much better matchups for Al this series than the Indy series.

Looked like to me Luka messed up his knee or leg .  He was going full tilt pretty good , then bam ,  he was hobbling.

Want to continue to make him work and pick him up full court , no rest for that leg .  While he might still drop 30 ,  dude causing defense let down for his team . Four Mavs gotta stop 5 Celtics who all can drive and shoot the three.

Celtics keep the game fast , run fat Luka to death , worry hire and exhaust him physically.

that really is it in a nutshell. we have a plethora of guys who can drive and shoot 3's. AL and KP drove last night plus hit 3's.  then you have jrue, dee white, JT, JB and PP who can drive and hit threes. hauser can just hit threes.

it is a matchup nightmare. get 5 man spacing....open shot with space? launch a bomb. in your face? up fake and drive and/or pass to a cutter.

keep attacking luka and cryrie. they will wilt over time. when they are so tired from playing D it affects their offense they are done. nobody else is winning games for dallas.

if i am a dallas fan i am deeply worried moving on. i expect boston D to be just as good next game and i expect offense to be even better.  GOD forbid bawstin get up 2-0 on the mavs playing in the garden. boston is better on the road! if we go up 2-0 id be terrified as a mavs fan with it coming back to dallas.

as always..............

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
