I think you can play Kornet in this series and it won't have too much of a negative impact. You lose Porzingis' 3 point shooting but none of Dallas' bigs are a major offensive threat in the way that Mobley or Turner were.

The medical staff has information that we don?t have.  If he risks further injury by playing it makes sense to sit him for G3.  If Cs lose G3 it may be worth the risk to play him in G4.

My hope is the team can rise above and perform like an inspired undermanned team in G3 - the way they?ve seen other teams do v. them.

man this is stressful, another injury let other step in for the Lord of God. Luke and X we have bodies- I do not want to see a gumpy Kp on there.

I think X is a better matchup against the Mavs as he can switch everything. X has guarded Luka in the past. Throwing in some Q would be a curve ball. Those guys can eat up some minutes, especially in the first half. I'm not sure Joe trusts anyone that's not in that top 8.

Al played 28 and 30 minutes in the first two games.

He played 39 minutes twice against Indy and once against Cleveland. He also played 34+ three other playoff games.

My fear with Kornet is him getting destroyed physically by both those 2 centers. Luke will allow Dallas to double off of him and it will allow them to hide defenders.

I am 100 percent sure tho Kornet will be the first off the bench to spell Al.

I agree. Luke?s size in the paint can replace some of what KP provided defensively.  I worry about big minutes for Al in G3 with G4 only a day of rest away.

The gamesmanship is the Celtics saying he?s day to day when they really know he?s not.

IMO Boston is gonna have to cobble together two more wins with the guys they have left.

Honestly if they can't muster two more wins without KP against this Mavs team then this season was a collosal failure. Still should be no excuses when you have Tatum and Brown in your starting lineup along with two All NBA 2nd team defenders.

Facts. If they can't win then this team is t what we thought.
My only fear is jt and jb overcompensating due to his absence.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

But we have been there with Al before in this exact situation. The first three rounds were one day off in between. I don't think that wil be an issue. Al can go near 40 minutes if need be esp since he played very limited minutes in games 1 and 2.

I mean, are you not worried about Luke getting switched onto Luka? That?s nightmare material lol That?s an automatic Luka open jump shot OR Luka driving past him and setting up the lob, which is exactly what we don?t want.

It needs to be Tillman not Luke.

Exactly. Dallas will hunt this match up like they did with Luka and Gobert. It will be a nightmare.

Luka barely drove the other night.  He was money from his fadeaways, but he?s not at 100% either.  Kornet would play the same drop coverage that KP largely plays anyway.  Luka jump shots are still lower percentage than lobs, and Kornet is better at taking those away.

Porzingis hasn't been ruled out.

If he is ruled out, don't worry. They are 10-1 without him in the playoffs.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

This is all very complicated and referencing body parts that I have never even heard of before.  But it sounds like a tendon popped out of its groove or sheath.  It may have gotten damaged too.  They are saying that "stability" is an issue.  I can see that if the tendon is not where it is supposed to be.

The repair surgery that is described sounds like putting the tendon back into the groove where it is supposed to be.  In the meantime, the question is how much risk is there for him to play more.  They can probably stabilize his ankle (I assume this is his ankle) with a mild brace or something like that.  That seems like why there is even consideration that he can play.

The Doctors are likely doing more research into this to make sure there is not risk of a catastrophic injury, like Durant tearing his Achilles.  But the more salient question may end up being how well can he play with this thing.  Even if they can stabilize this enough that there is limited risk of further injury, how much is this going to impact his play.  It doesn't seem like a few more days is going to make much difference, so my guess is they do what they can to "stabilize" it and put him out there to see what he can do.  Even gimpy, he may be better than Kornet.

Hmm woj said plan is for him to play

That's not quite what he said.  He said that KP wants to play, and he hasn't been ruled out yet.  Joe says that the decision is out of KP's hands.

He says there is no indication he will not be permitted to try and play in game 3. Makes it seem to me like he may play

Read KP's other quotes.  It's up to the medical staff

Quote
On what he?ll have to endure if he plays...

?I don?t know the specifics. That?s something I leave in the medical staff?s hands to determine whether I can go or no. From my side, as I said, nothing?s going to stop me unless I?m told not to or not allowed to play. That?s the only reason I will be out there.?

Crazy.  Feel bad for the guy.  Busted his ass to get back and doesn't make it two games before some other injury (never even heard of this one!) happens.

I'd rather we not take the chance on him playing through it tbh.  Play Al 35 a night, cobble the other 13 together with some combination of Kornet and Tillman and going small, and empty the tank.  We need two more wins.
