Well they have two good defensive forwards to put on Jaylen and Tatum in Derrick Jones Jr and PJ Washington. So they have good matchups. Tim Legler was pointing out that not many teams have two good defensive forwards who can matchup against the Jays. Dallas does.

Luka will probably be on Derrick White.

Tatum has absolutely cooked PJ Washington when he has guarded JT. JT has averaged 31.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 14 games versus P.J. Washington Jr. in his career.

It is not comparable because Charlotte was a bad defensive team. PJ Washington had no defensive help behind him. Now he has Gafford and Lively who have his back. It will be a different matchup for Tatum and PJ Washington in the Finals.

How much was he averaging on Andrew Wiggins before the last finals? I get where you’re coming from and there’s a lot of time in between games but I’m just not banking on things like this like others seem to do. I expect Tatum to play well, I also expected him to dominate the 2022 finals. We will see.

tatum had good numbers against him when he was in dallas too. he put up 32points on 52.5% shooting in the March game.

they will give wide open 3's to those two? because I guarantee boston's strategy is to have 5 shooters on the floor at all time. I think boston will take that all day.

That was two years ago. I guess players can’t get better, can’t gain experience. Can’t be physically in better shape.

The whole Celtics team was spent by the time they got to the finals. I think Tatum has been great this playoff run aside from the 3 point shooting.

I think that has been the plan all season.  When you have a top 8 of JT,JB, KP, DW, JH, AH, PP, and SH, and in the playoffs those 8 will see 99% of the minutes not in a blow out, then you by design will always have 5 shooters.  6 of those 8 are also + defenders, with the other 2 not chopped liver on D either.

   Porzingis/Horford    vs    Gafford/Lively

If Porzingis can play like regular season Porzingis, and hold up, this big grouping is a big advantage for BOS.  If Porzingis is only 75% or whatever and/or no better than Kornet/Tillman, then this may not be an advantage at all.

Wiggins also didn't play like an average defender then and he's always been capable of playing above average defensively. His athleticism was a problem for Tatum and Brown. I'm not sure how much someone like Washington is able to turn it on like that but he doesn't have the same quickness even if he tries.

So by in between, you mean that Porzingis will be better than Kornet but not as good as regular season Porzingis?  That is probably fair, and yes, DAL will be trying to isolate Porzingis and attack him.

I don't see Gafford or Lively being able to do that, but what DAL will try to do is create switches so that Porzingis is on someone else (mostly Doncic).  We are just going to need to blitz or double when that happens.  No different than what teams tried to do all season but DAL/Doncic are especially good at it.
