He looked tired in the 4th, but I'm hoping the calf can hold up. The way he was running early, jumping around and blocking shots though looked encouraging.

If he has to come off the bench this whole series I don't mind, in fact I think it might be a good thing as he can just pulverize their 2nd unit (or tired first unit). It wouldn't prevent him from helping late in games either in situations.

We'll be fine if he can give us 20-25 minutes a night.

So I keep hearing from the media/Dallas fans that KP can’t do this again.

But I’m confused because all he did last night was what he has done all year. Average 20ppg and 6rpg and block shots

Did people just not watch the Celtics with Porzingis?

You're seeing the natural reaction by fans who were killed by a guy they don't respect. We were saying it game after game in the ECF last year.
They still think the KP now is the KP they had when he played for them.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

I totally agree. But the difference to me is that those guys on Miami didn’t do that all year.

Here Dallas fans/media are saying a guy who averaged 20ppg and 7rpg all season cant put up those exact same numbers again?

Once Porzingis entered the game it was over for Dallas.  The whole team elevated its play.  He made shots, he blocked shots, he dominated the game.  He was an oppressive force on defense and offense.

The fact that he's doing it against his former team must make the Dallas fans feel really bitter.  Like why didn't we get this from KP?  Well maybe the chemistry wasn't right or maybe he has matured as a player.

All I can say is that I'm really glad that we made the trade of Smart for KP.  This trade has paid off BIG TIME and Brad Stevens should win executive of the year for the moves he has made this offseason and through the deadline!

Most likely chemistry. Luka never passed the ball to an open Porzingis. They never worked out. And KP definitely has grown. He's hungry for a ring, and Boston is his best chance to obtain it.

I am doing that trade 20 out of 10 times. Smart was cool and all, but he started spiraling downwards after winning DPOY. Plus I didn't enjoy him bricking 3's and shooting us out of games. KP was such an excellent pickup. It was almost the equivalent of us signing KG in July 2007. And then Jrue Holiday was probably our Ray Allen signing  ;D

yes. let KP keep coming off bench and crucify their second unit or a combo of 1 and 2.

I’ve checked a few times (with fingers crossed) to see if Porzingis has suffered any setbacks from playing last night. So far, so good!

If he’s feeling sore today hopefully everyone stays quiet about it.

2 days between games should be great for him/horford.

I will say though the way he was dunking and blocking shots I think his calf was okay for awhile and they made the smart decision to rest him when the pacers series was in hand

That one monster dunk felt like it was a "Holy crap, my body is okay" moment for KP.

So… start him in Game 2 or go with him off the bench?

Not starting him really preserved minutes - he only played 20.

I hope they go with KP off the bench again.

Off the bench Game 2. Personally I'd just keep him off the bench all series but if I had to guess, as long as he has no setbacks in Game 2 he could realistically start Game 3. Even in the regular season KP averaged only around 29 minutes a game. I think they are fine keeping him around the 22-25 MPG mark in the Finals, maybe with one game being 28-30+ depending on if it goes OT or it's a close game.

They have won 8 straight with Horford starting, so keep going with it. IF they lose, then I would go with Porzingis as a starter in the next game.

I like this for our players too . Although,  changing up lineup , keeps their game plans a bit off balance.   Depends on what changes Kidd makes . Don’t want to become too predictable.
