Been hoping to get a sneak peak of him in practice on line. I guess his status is a military secret. :D

I hope he can play.

I don't know guys, what are you basing this certainty on that he is ready to play and could have if needed during ECF vs Indy ?

The only clip I saw of him doing light shooting did not look good at all - he looked like he was just shooting with his arms and not putting any pressure on his legs. Given, that clip was 2 weeks ago, give or take. Does anyone have solid info about his status ? I am haunted by 2009 and KG.

They're probably basing it on Shams and Woj's reporting that there's "hope" that he can play, and might have played if needed:

Shams:
Quote
"There's definitely hope. There’s definitely optimism," The Athletic's Shams Charania said Tuesday on FanDuel TV's Run It Back show of Porzingis' potential return. "There are still some hurdles, I’m told, that he has to clear before he can play in Game 1 of the Finals, but there's of course hope that this next week-plus will give him the time that needs to ramp up and get ready for that Game 1 next Thursday."

Woj:
Quote
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported last week that there was a possibility Porzingis could return as soon as Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The 7-foot-2 big man remained sidelined for the entire series, however, as Boston won Games 3 and 4 against the Pacers in Indiana to complete a series sweep and give themselves nine full days off before next Thursday's Game 1.

And of course from Payton:
Quote
"He looks really good. I think he'll be ready shortly," Pritchard told NBC Sports Boston's Abby Chin before Monday's Game 4.

Of course, none of these folks are doctors, and you will note the language is very careful - "there is hope, there's optimism", "there's a possibility he could return as soon as Game 4", "I think he'll be ready shortly". None of these are definitive, and anyone making an absolute statement is only guessing. It's all speculation. Nothingburgers really.

I'm sure the rumor mill will go into overdrive with the time we have off between now and June 6 but personally, I'm not expecting him to be back until the medical staff give him the go-ahead - no matter what Payton, Shams, Woj or anyone else says. Even Kristaps himself. I'm not even thinking about him right now
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

My guess is he is won’t be ready to go and if the series gets tough he’ll attempt to come back still hobbling and be completely ineffective.
I don’t trust this team with injuries.
Team needs to be prepared to do this without him.

Good news.

Is it?  I guess it is better news than saying he had a setback but what I hear is that they have not tested this to this point.  Meaning he isn't currently ready to play.  It makes sense to me that this is the time to fish or cut bait, either he can play or he can't.  If it is still too sore to play by Game 1, it is probably an indication that the injury is worse than we were led to believe.

Before you were hearing that Game 4 ECF was being targeted or was a possibility or whatever the vague reports were.  But now we are hearing that he is "ramping up" so Game 4 was never in the cards.  I get the sense that he will be playing in the finals but I am not sure they know whether he will be 100% or 75% or what.  A not quite 100% Porzingis is still probably better than Kornet or Tillman, so I will take it.  And who knows, maybe after a game or two, he is back to 100%.

Don't take Joe too seriously.  He's being coy with the media, saying he had no idea what the doctors are saying.

Unless Porzingis is blatantly lying here, it sounds like he's gonna be good to go for the Finals

Now that makes me feel better.  From the horses mouth.  He sounds very confident.  I am sure he wants to be out there more than anyone.  A chance to play for a title.
