I dint believe KP will be coming back and I speculate Celts know it. They’re keeping the noise out. Just an opinion. Not the same thing , I know. But the Celts never counted KG out to the public in 2009.

So FWIW, the Celtics social media posted a "Finals Bound" pic, and in that pic is our current starting 5 and... Porzingis. It's very rare the Celtics ever put a pic of a guy who is hurt or not expected to play on these promos, or even the pregame posters. If Porzingis is on it, I really think it's a sign he's gonna return in the Finals. Otherwise they could have just left it as the current starting 5 including Horford (no KP)

I am 100% sure Porzingis will be playing his regular minutes starting with game 1 of the Finals. It is pretty clear he was ready to use in the ECF if needed, they are just taking it easy with him.

They actually did count KG out right before the playoffs that year. This is very different, Porzingis is ready and could have even played against the Pacers if there had been any need.

I am not sure what you are basing this conclusion on.  I don't think it is clear at all what the status of his calf is.  I think it is as likely that it is still sore as it is that it feels fine and that he is ready to play.  That said, I agree with you that still a little sore or not, he will probably play in Game 1.

Porzingis really was not that good in the 4 games vs. MIA that he played in.  He managed 40% from 3 but only 39% overall.  He wasn't efficient on post ups.  Only scoring 12.3 per game.  He was +3.0 per 100 possessions while the team was +12.1 per 100 possessions overall in the 4 games he played.  My point is that this calf was probably bothering him in those games.

Been hoping to get a sneak peak of him in practice on line. I guess his status is a military secret. :D

It seems odd that he would go from 0-60 and just be available to start right away.   Wouldn’t we start him off slow and bring him off the bench for at least a couple games 20 min each?

They have 10 days to ramp him up and get him ready. I expect when he returns for game 1 he will start and have his usual minutes.

  • GOT IT!!!
Another beneficial thing about this situation is the Finals schedule is spaced out. That will help Horford and KP both. Neither guy will be required to play 40 minutes a night.

But if the top 6 all play 40 minutes, then we literally won't have to play any of the other bench players. Spaced out Finals schedule for the win!
