on a personal level i wish no ill will towards brown and never will. he is part of our title run and was always a huge part of this team and will always be remembered fondly by me. part of our great history now.

Let's talk about the new contract with the Celtics. Four seasons for $56 million, which is ?49 million. What does it mean to you beyond the money? What did this recognition express? "Yes, for me, the money wasn't the most important thing at all. The most important thing was knowing that Boston believed in me for another four years. I'll be able to continue calling Boston home for that entire time, without having to look over my shoulder. Without having to worry about the next season. What I wanted or what would happen. I think Brown's interview was candid.  That being said, he is a Sixer now, and  I will root against when he plays us.  More than likely I will root against them every time because he is a Sixer.

I will feel bad when I see him in a Sixer's jersey, just like I did, when I saw Rondo in a Lakers Jersey.  You get more attached to the homegrown stars.

Regardless of circumstances, I excuse no former Celtic when they become a Laker. I can?t erase the image of Rondo in a Laker uniform from my brain.  Sixers - I don?t really care.  But JB isn?t a Celtic now and I?m not sure yet how that will play out in terms of how I feel about his future success. I suspect I?ll be mostly indifferent.

I was listening to the radio quite a bit yesterday evening while driving, heard excerpts.  I would say that most of his answers were politically correct, he was saying the right things.  It is hard to read too much into things, but he definitely became disgruntled at some point.  He is not happy with the Celtics organization, but said all the right things about Boston and Boston fans.

The bit about throwing his phone when he heard about the trade seems a bit weird, he knew he was getting traded, it was just a question of when and to where.  In fact, by that point, he probably wanted to be traded.  So I am not sure I buy that part.  As to Tatum, he was definitely pretty cool towards him.  Said the obligatory "nothing but respect", but not much more.  I expect there will be a big hug on the court at the first game, very respectful of course.

There are hints it seems that Tatum and maybe other players may have gotten a little tired of Brown's act, that is pretty speculative, but it is possible.  Certainly the Celtics organization seems to have gotten tired of Brown's act (they did trade him after all).  I am not sure how much of this has anything to do with any of it, I have my doubts that this was much of a factor if at all.

I find those JB comments strange.

(1) JT and JB haven't talked since the trade. That seems crazy to me. There must have been a falling out for that to happen. They played together for 9-10 years.

I was listening to Perk and some others. Somebody was talking about Steph Curry. Steph flew back and talked to Durant before Durant decided to leave. Steph talked to Klay before Klay decided to leave. Steph even offered to intervene on behalf of Klay but Klay said no. Klay said he only wanted to stay if the team wanted him. Not because Steph asked them to keep Klay.

That is shocking to me.

It has been a month. Still no contact? After a month?

(2) I was listening to Toucher & Hardy on 98.5 Sports Hub. They focused in on the "respect" "on my end" comments. They thought it was strange to say "on my end". Not mutual respect or something like that. Or just leave out my end. Nothing but respect. The "on my end" part ...

It didn't strike me as odd when I was listening to JB's Q&A but after they pointed it out ... it does feel a bit off. Does JT respect JB? Does JB feel that Tatum respects him? Is JB annoyed that JT didn't stand up for him? That JT did not intervene and keep them together?

I realize that being teammates on a pro sports team is not a typical fellow worker situation. But I can absolutely see not speaking to people after working with them for years, and that not being a reflection of not liking them or not respecting them.  Some people you stay in touch with, some you don?t. IMO it doesn?t mean much that they haven?t spoken in a month.  Could be just that they aren?t friends, which doesn?t mean they hate each other, resent each other, or are glad not to be teammates.

And sometimes long relationships are so steeped in varied emotion that once a separation happens the parties want some time and space before communicating. 

JBs and JTs relationship will be different from here out. Maybe they reconnect as old ex-comrades some day and enjoy reminiscing.  Or maybe they despise each other and will never have a kind thought toward the other. Could be anything.  But if it was a *him or me* situation, I hope we kept the right one.
