We thought it'd be last year, maybe with tanking intentions, but this next season to me is looking like a tough one for the Celtics in the East. Brad even said it in his press conference right after the season ended, a lot of teams were tanking or dealing with injuries and the level of competition will get better. Pacers will be back with Haliburton. Knicks, Cavaliers and Pistons still legit. Sixers and Heat got better. Even the Hornets, Wizards and a few others won't be pushovers next season.

I think Boston will be around the 5-6 seed next season in the East. Kind of a bad spot to be, just in mediocrity and middle of the pack until they maybe create the next core after 2027 using the George expiring + picks. Sure, our team might be better overall going into next season and Tatum is healthy, but the East as a whole also got a lot better.

Not really sure what to make of this. Hopefully Robinson is all good moving forward:

New Boston Celtics center Mitchell Robinson addressed the hand injury that put his status for the start of the New York Knicks' NBA Finals appearance in doubt, saying he was hurt after reacting to a family member being in a car crash.

In a Facebook post Sunday morning, Robinson outlined a difficult season for him due to "personal issues, relationship problems, and internal struggles, which affected my performance on the basketball court." He said that culminated in hearing that his youngest brother had been in a car crash that included potentially severe or life-threatening injuries.

"Being 910 miles away, I felt helpless. In a moment of frustration, I banged my hand on my truck," Robinson wrote. "... Before judging someone, it is essential to understand their circumstances, which may not be publicly known. Life is unpredictable, and it is how we respond to challenges that truly matters."

Brad also botched that negotiation.  He asked for way too much, turned teams off and forced them to move on.  When he decided to get serious, they only offer left on the table was the worst contract in the NBA +1.5 firsts.

It?s clearly the combination of contract, age, and talent that defines trade value in today?s NBA market.  Bridges, Bane, and maybe Murphy are in that sweet spot of young vet, non-max, and solid talent. JB was not.  I think once Brad (etc) decided for whatever reasons that JB had to go, it was inevitably going to be a disappointing return.  The silver linings, if one or more actually emerges will be effective use of draft capital and management of whatever cap flexibility arises over the next 1-2 years.  Stating the obvious while hopeful that things will turn out well.
