Honestly all the Jaylen Brown advanced analytics discourse is a bit gross given that one of the biggest reasons the Celtics lost in the first round was two analytics darlings White/Queta absolutely throwing up all over themselves.

Which leads me to wonder whether if things don't pan out moving forward and Jaylen has a big year whether there might be a house cleaning in the front office.

Also, no JB, no #18.  People have short, easily influenced memories.

It depends on whether this was Brad's decision or ownership's.

We thought it'd be last year, maybe with tanking intentions, but this next season to me is looking like a tough one for the Celtics in the East. Brad even said it in his press conference right after the season ended, a lot of teams were tanking or dealing with injuries and the level of competition will get better. Pacers will be back with Haliburton. Knicks, Cavaliers and Pistons still legit. Sixers and Heat got better. Even the Hornets, Wizards and a few others won't be pushovers next season.

I think Boston will be around the 5-6 seed next season in the East. Kind of a bad spot to be, just in mediocrity and middle of the pack until they maybe create the next core after 2027 using the George expiring + picks. Sure, our team might be better overall going into next season and Tatum is healthy, but the East as a whole also got a lot better.

Post trade, weren?t the Celtics still the 2nd most favored team to come out of the East, according to betting odds?

I appreciate Sam not even pretending like this trade makes us better:

Quote
Daniel Donabedian: Celtics assistant coach Sam Cassell on the Jaylen Brown trade: ?Jaylen has done everything possible for this city. He?ll be missed. But it?s the NBA. Wilt Chamberlain got traded after he averaged 50 points one year?I wish nothing but the best for Jaylen. He?s a hell of a basketball player.? He then spoke on Paul George: ?He doesn?t have to try to be Jaylen Brown. He?s gotta be Paul George? We?ll be fine.?
