Interview from Feb.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LRdMWYEjfEA&ra=m

Jaylen Brown: We all have different views of ourselves, different views from our parents, different views from people back home, different views from the organization, and it all might not be the reality of where you?re at right now. So the problem, I think, sometimes is that patience and a plan or a strategy doesn?t come into effect.

It just thinks, I?m supposed to get this right now. And at some point, maybe you make that decision where it?s not going to work out here. Maybe I need to go somewhere else. Or maybe my reality in my brain is not the reality that I?m living. But at some point, those decisions have to get made. For me, how I looked at it was: I?m going to accept the role that they are offering me while knowing the role that I have for myself. I?m going to do your role to perfection, but I?m going to sneak my little one-two in there every chance I get. Basically, my strategy is: I?m going to show the people.

What kind of gobbly-gook is that supposed to be ?

Somebody nailed it above:  it's that faux intellectual Kyrie-adjacent nonsense that is borderline illiterate gibberish.

Hate to agree because I?m certain JB is a smart man, but he does not put words together all that well. This statement reads as many of his diatribes do - borderline incoherent.  He probably just wants to make a simple point but leaves the audience unsure of his intent.

Personally I think that people try too much to read things that are transcribed from extemporaneously spoken YouTube videos.  Jaylen is quite easy to understand if listen to him talk for two minutes rather than try to read it.

I think we are too used to prepared lines.

What Jaylen is doing is a different medium. He's vlogging. He's chatting. The medium is designed to be like a honest conversation with a friend.

Our thoughts come out disjointed when we chat with friends. That's all he is doing.

If you watched the video, it was actually an interview. He also stated the below, which I don?t recall ever happening. JB mentioned that the only reason Gordon played ahead of him was due to Brads relationship with Hayward from the Butler days and the fact that they were paying him a lot of money. Essentially that it wasn?t a basketball decision.

Jaylen Brown said he used fan support years ago to start again despite the fact that Brad Stevens preferred Gordon Hayward:

Once you get the people talking about it, the front office is going to start making decisions.

Celtics fans even started a petition:

That eventually made the Celtics put me back into the starting lineup.

This is confusing

1) The wording here suggests that Celtics fans literally started a formal petition. This obviously did not happen. I do not recall major "Put Jaylen back in the starting lineup!" fan sentiment either.

2) Hayward only started the first 15 games of the season. Brown also started those game. Brown didnt lose his starting spot until around game 20. The two of them were replaced with Marcus Morris and Smart. This seemed like obviously the right decision as we were 10-10 through the first 20 and then went 40 and 22 once he went to the bench

3) Brown DID regain his starting role when the playoffs started. Although that seems more likely to be because Marcus Smart was injured. Him and Hayward played basically identical minutes in the playoffs.

Should be mentioned by all advanced stats, Hayward was way better than him that year. The next year they both started and played similar minutes as well

It is also nonsense.  Jaylen's 3rd year he did start only 25 of 74 games, but Hayward only started 18 of 72.  The team elevated Marcus Smart to the starting lineup.  They also had Morris start way more than Baynes. So in 17-18 the starters were basically Irving, Brown, Tatum, Horford, Baynes.  In 18-18 the starters were basically Irving, Smart, Tatum, Morris, Horford. So Brown lost the statung job to Smart in part because Brown couldn't provide the right cover to Irving's terrible defense whereas Smart could.

In that case, let's start a petition to GM Brad and have him trade Jaylen for Giannis!

Chemistry was terrible on that team, and unfortunately Brown was a big part of it.  He clashed with all of Kyrie, Smart, and apparently Hayward.

He's seemingly been a better teammate since.

Hailing from Brockton, Massachusetts, Dybantsa shared this week at the NBA combine in Chicago that he was a Celtics fan growing up.

?So this is my last year being a Celtics fan,? he said. ?I?m getting drafted this year, so ? I mean, it might still be in me, but I won?t definitely be a fan as much.?

Back to back seasons where the #1 pick is a Celtics fan.

Love it. Also hope he hates it in Washington and that Flagg hates Dallas. Get those two wearing green in Boston, where they belong. Next great Celtics duo..  8)

JB going to war with SAS.  :P

Celtics star Jaylen Brown continued his war of words with longtime ESPN pundit Stephen A. Smith on Sunday night.

After urging Smith to be quiet and retire earlier this month while on his Twitch live stream, Brown didn?t mince words on his latest stream while taking Smith to task over his blunt criticism of the Celtics forward since Boston?s 2025-26 season came to a close.

Man, F Stephen A. Stephen A, Stephen B, Stephen C, Brown said after pausing the clip once Smith said that Brown needs to be quiet. My offer still stands. You want me to be quiet and stop streaming? Well, I want you to be quiet and get off these networks. Because you?re not using your platform to do real journalism. You?re using your platform to use clickbait.

Tell this mother F to retire, because he?s the face of clickbait media, Brown said. And maybe with his retirement, we could spark a movement to get the rest of these mother Fs out of here.

Or to also have some type of, forget journalistic integrity, actual integrity in order to hold themselves accountable to the bull?- takes they put out with no basis, no bias, no information. Just narrative. Just for the sake of just pushing a weak narrative. Just purely out of that.

Smith also suggested on his ESPN segment that fellow Celtics star Jayson Tatum was on ?First Take? instead of Brown?s Twitch stream due to his apparent frustration with Brown?s recent comments.

What type of journalism is this?? Brown asked. Jayson Tatum hasn?t been on my stream, and this is what we?re talking about on First Take? What if [Tatum] just don?t like being somewhere in an uncontrolled environment? Why are you doing journalism on me having guests on my stream? And this is a part of the reason why I started streaming. This is a part of the reason why people use the term clown, and it synchronizes with someone like Stephen A. Smith. Because this is what you?re using your platform for. What are you talking about??

This is a narrative that he?s creating. This isn?t journalism, Brown continued. This is him making his own opinion and [formulating] it about what I have to say, on his platform. And this is why, respectfully, a lot of people say, F Stephen A. Because this is the type of stuff he does, and then he doesn?t recognize it.

JB isn't wrong about SAS.  At the same time, I'm not sure that SAS is all that wrong about JB, either.  I'm not sure the new whiny, aggrieved JB is an improvement.

It reminds me of Grant Williams' transformation from a role player into a podcaster and caricature.

Smith can 'threaten' that but everyone knows he's no journalist and will continue to pass off his opinion and speculation as 'fact' or 'reporting'.
