That IT era was special. I knew we were never going to win with him as the #1 guy, but man did I love the way he and that team battled every night.

Hindsight 20/20, IT4 was def more beloved here than Kyrie Irving. It's too bad we needed to trade him for Kyrie, an offer we couldn't refuse. But imagine if we kept Isaiah Thomas with this lineup:

IT4/Brown/Hayward/Tatum/Horford

Unfortunately it would never have happened.

Thomas was finished as an elite player due to degenerative injuries.

Yeah.  A *healthy* IT4 would have been special, but that wasn't happening.

Jaylen Brown: Like, I have a lot of other interests, and basketball is the number one focus. But by the time I get past 15 years of my life, do I want to still have it dominate so much of my life? I'm not sure. Like, I want to go back to school and things like that. Like, there are other things that I potentially we might get into. So we'll see. I'm just taking one day at a time. But if you ask me ? if I had to answer right now I'm gonna be like: "Give me five more, and I'll go with that."

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I think he'll stick around because of the outrageous salary.

But, these guys are lucky.  Work until they're 38, and then get to spend the rest of their lives enriching their souls, if they so choose.

Sooo... you're telling me that right now Neemy is a better rim protector (by 0.1!) than Ivaca Zubac that everyone thinks we should trade for and start ahead of Neemy?

I feel like people are underrating Q. Advanced metrics should always be taken with a grain of salt, but his are really impressive, particularly with a quarter of the season gone. Even more so when you consider how much he's getting paid.

Sometimes it's a snob thing, he was a nobody last season, he's getting paid peanuts, he's unspectacular, it's hard to change that paradigm of how we viewed him. I feel he impacts winning a lot more than people give him credit for. He's a perfect Moneyball type player to me.

Most of the names that people have brought up as supposed upgrades actually have worse advanced metrics than him, and cost ten times as much. Look at his percentiles for on-off. He's improved in pretty much every facet other than his free throw rate and his pts/possession and eFG. He's in the 90th %ile among all bigs in terms of his on-off differential, and his defensive metrics are all in the top 10-20% of bigs.
