If Tatum comes back in March, he'll have 6+ weeks to sort of "get his feet wet". Obviously he won't play every game and will probably have minutes restrictions every game, but if it goes well and he feels good, they can ramp him up a little for mid-April and beyond as well. It makes a lot of sense and even Tatum has hinted it in the past. He's wanted to come back ideally at home and also around his birthday, and the C's do have a game against CHA March 4 at home.
I do agree, some people and even doctors online think late January or February is possible. That seems excessive. Don't rush it that much, take the time. But March is still 3 months away
Dru Smith btw is a good example. He tore his Achilles around Christmas week last year, and came back opening day this season (between 9-10 months) and has played every game so far.
