Don't think JB is going anywhere. Brad said last night it was basically JT, JB, White and PP as the core guys moving forward.
I think Niang needs to be dumped as soon as possible so they can resign Kornet and Al. I would like to keep Hauser over him.
i agree on dumping niang, but i dont see a rush in doing so. his salary doesn't affect the celtics really until the end of the season, which functionally means the trade deadline. i think stevens will package him in a trade, but we shall see.
I think this is a key point that many overlook. It doesn't matter where you are at the start of the season (to some extent), what matters in terms of tax and apron penalties is where you are at the end of the season. We can start the season over, and if through deadline trades we get under, we are fine. Being under does open up some trading flexibility for this season, so that would be one advantage.
For example, if we sign Kornet today for say $6M, that puts us back over the 2nd apron. But if we trade Naing at the deadline and get back under, we are fine in terms of penalties. The difference is that if we were a little under the 2nd apron, we could trade Brown for Giannis (just for example). Giannis makes about $1M more than Brown. If we were a little over, we can't take back even $1 more than we send out. If we enough under that we are still under after the deal, you could make this trade.
I am fine to get Naing out of here sooner rather than later and signing Kornet. Then we are under the 2nd apron but still over the tax threshold. Then work on dealing Simons to get under the tax sometime before the deadline.
