Plan A is apparently trading Brown for younger cheaper players and draft capital.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

There is a ton of smoke on this.  It is all over NBA circles by guys that are generally in touch and their reporting has shifted from the C's are listening to offers, to escalating offers, to the C's are looking at players that are clearly going in the top 10 in the draft, that the goal wasn't the 2nd apron, but getting out of the tax completely.  There is just so much smoke and heat, that appears to be plan A.

If they trade Brown it better be for a [dang] good package. If it?s kind of meh, than that just means this new owner is cheap.

because his deepest, darkest desire for the past 10 years has been to get rid of Jaylen Brown.  It's been HIS plan A for years.  no one else's really, just his.

Well, no trade up into the top 10. Maybe this means Brown is safe.

I think the situation is exactly what everyone has been reporting. The Celtics don?t want to trade Brown, but people are making offers. There is a point where it would make sense to trade Brown. But it would have to be a pretty big offer.

So it is pretty obvious Brown and White aren't going anywhere so we can put that to bed.
Also think Simons at least plays the season in Boston next year.

Brad said Luke and AL are priorities for them. That means someone has to go. Most likely Sam but I pray to God they dump Walsh and Niang.

I think Anfernee Simons is trade bait to get the final piece of the Celtics next title winning core. A 4th option behind Tatum, Jaylen and D White. A replacement for Jrue Holiday.

I don't think A Simons will have the trade value to get that player but his contract will be needed as a cap makeweight to match salary. So I am thinking A Simons plus a bunch of picks. At some point. Not necessarily this summer or even during the season. Maybe the re-sign him to keep the salary slot open for a trade at a later date.

This what happens unfortunately when a team has 2 max players then have 3 more who made around 30 million a year, have to let 2-3 players go and try to rebuild again?sorry folks but I would trade Brown to spurs if they offer what some ppl suggested
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Don't think JB is going anywhere. Brad said last night it was basically JT, JB, White and PP as the core guys moving forward.

I think Niang needs to be dumped as soon as possible so they can resign Kornet and Al. I would like to keep Hauser over him.

i agree on dumping niang, but i dont see a rush in doing so. his salary doesn't affect the celtics really until the end of the season, which functionally means the trade deadline. i think stevens will package him in a trade, but we shall see.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I just hate him. He is not good. He is dirty. He is out of shape and to me adds nothing to this team.

I think this is a key point that many overlook.  It doesn't matter where you are at the start of the season (to some extent), what matters in terms of tax and apron penalties is where you are at the end of the season.  We can start the season over, and if through deadline trades we get under, we are fine.  Being under does open up some trading flexibility for this season, so that would be one advantage.

For example, if we sign Kornet today for say $6M, that puts us back over the 2nd apron.  But if we trade Naing at the deadline and get back under, we are fine in terms of penalties.  The difference is that if we were a little under the 2nd apron, we could trade Brown for Giannis (just for example).  Giannis makes about $1M more than Brown.  If we were a little over, we can't take back even $1 more than we send out.  If we enough under that we are still under after the deal, you could make this trade.

I am fine to get Naing out of here sooner rather than later and signing Kornet.  Then we are under the 2nd apron but still over the tax threshold.  Then work on dealing Simons to get under the tax sometime before the deadline.
