One thing is for sure. Tatum should not play one minute of basketball next season. Shut him down totally until 2026. This team is not going anywhere.

Unless Simons + #28 can move us up that far, I don't see this as a real possibility.  SAS with pick #14 could be in a position to make a deal like this.  Maybe send back Harrison Barnes.  This would save BOS $8.7M.

This is a dark dark day.

And fans who think we can still compete for a title in 26-27 with a core of Brown, Tatum coming off an Achilles tear, and 32 year old Derrick White are living on fantasy island.

Our current depth chart as I have it:

White           Pritchard         Vet Min?
Simons         Scheierman     1st Rd Pick?
Brown          Hauser            Walsh
Tillman         Naing              2nd Rd. Pick?
Queta           Vet Min?          2-way player?

Injured:  Tatum

We may sign Kornet, but in my mind, not without dumping Hauser or Simons.

I think they'll almost certainly resign at least one of Kornet/Horford, maybe both, without dumping Hauser or Simons. The C's are 4.5 million under the 2nd apron, if they just dump Niang by attaching a second they'll move to nearly 13 million below the 2nd apron. That should be enough to bring back at least one if not both of Kornet and Horford and fill out the roster.

I agree regarding Kornet.  I don't see why Horford would want to come back and play for this team in what could be his last season.  You can sign Kornet for say $6M and even though BOS would be over the 2nd apron to start the season, they could make a deal at the deadline or along the way (Simons and/or Naing) to get back under.

If all Horford wants is to chase another ring then ya, he'll leave. But the guy is also 39, he may at this point just value playing in an org he knows in a city he loves. He got his championship, there's less incentive to chase that now. So we'll see, I kind of think he'll be back.

So, if we get under the first apron/cap, it resets for next season, right? Tatum takes of 2025/26 and takes time getting healthy.

In summer of 2026, we can resign KP if we want and hope he still wants to come back, or we fill out roster with new strong replacements around JT and JB(if still here).

Saving hundred of millions this year allows us to spend hundreds more the following year.

I dont see sky is falling. JT getting healthy is priority number 1, getting under the cap is 1A. I trust in Brad. Best person to have right now.

By trading Porzingis, we lose his Bird rights.  To sign him we either need cap space (which we won't have) or he has to fit into an exemption of some sort (MLE, TPE, etc).  It is possible, but not a given.

Let?s go Brad!

I'd try to keep Simons. He can hoop on offense. He can shoot.

Now that they're out of the second apron, the Celtics can trade Simons, Hauser, and Niang for anyone that matches salaries.

I think that's what Brad is doing.

Those 3 contracts add up to about $45.9M.  We would be able to combine salaries but if we do, we would then be hard capped at the second apron.  If we trade 3 for 1, that is two more roster slots that need to be filled.  That means we can bring back only about $40M or so to have enough space left over to fill out the roster.

I don't see it going this way.  You can't have that much tied up in just 3 contracts (Brown and Tatum also).  More likely, Simons is traded for 2 smaller contracts, in my view.  Naing's and Hauser's contracts are not that big a deal.

Is there still a waiting period to aggregate newly acquired players in a trade?

Sabonis, here we come!

Oh my god I would be ecstatic

I have always thought he would make a great Celtic. Unfortunately, if he were to be made available, Sacramento could definitely get a much better offer than Simons, Hauser, and Niang.

This is true.  He would fit really well with JT/JB/Dwhite...
