Nesmith has 17 tonight mid way through the second period

Getting traded to a young team with little pressure is the best thing that could've happened to Nesmith.

Man, Mobley is devastating in transition. Looks like Giannis out there. Not the same coast-to-coast threat as Giannis but let Mobley catch it around 15-20 feet on the run and with his size, length, and ability to change directions while maintaining balance ... he gets to the rim every time. Doesn't matter if you have 1-2 defenders around him, he'll beat them and get to the rim.

Strange frontcourt for CLE

C: T Thompson
F: D Wade
F: G Niang

Low talent. Low skill. Slow.

Jalen Smith playing ahead of Daniel Theis as backup center for Indy. Nesmith ahead of their lotto pick Jarace Walker at backup PF. The said Walker was struggling in camp & preseason. Behind the curve. Particularly on offense.

Utah not playing lotto pick Taylor Hendricks either.

So they are using that double PF and C starting frontcourt with Olynyk as their main backup big. The rest of their bench was 4 guards. A SG, two combo guards, a defensive PG. 4 guards!

Man, they must have a bunch of strange lineups happening with so many guards in their rotation. They are not big wings like Jaylen playing at SG either. Agbaji at 6-5 is their tallest guard. THT (Horton Tucker) at 6-4 230lbs strongest. Rest of them are 6-3 to 6-4 guards.

They need to acquire a legit wing. A 6-6 to 6-8 guy. Give them a little balance. Someone with real size on defense & backboards.

Nesmith was starting for the Pacers last year and played very well. I always expected him to get big minutes again. Not surprised at all he is 3rd in minutes on the Pacers so far this year.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Memphis loses a close one against Denver.  Our old friend Marcus Smart again with a great game  20points / 5 assists / 5 steals on over 50% shooting.
Love to see Marcus playing well.

He's playing well offensively....but he took his foot off the gas on the defensive end either that or hes totally lost in their system. He's been out of position and beaten several times in the couple games this season. Now that Marcus isn;t in Green and I can watch him without green glasses.
ok fine

Smart has always been the most wildly inconsistent player.

Yeah, he wasn’t great yesterday in the Grizzlies loss to the Wizards. Played 32 mins and had 9pts, 6ast, 4 rebs. 4-8 from the field, 1-5 from 3pt. Overall he’s averaging 15.3 pts, 4.7ast, 2rebs, while shooting 53% from the field, 33% from 3pt and 66% from the line. Memphis is now 0-3.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Against the Wizards the other day, Marcus waa rallying the team to come back from a 20 point deficit or so. I was going to post about it here because I love Marcus. And then....he missed two really bad heat check threes in a row while the Wizards and was replaced by Derek Rose. OMG Marcus.

Yeah, I don’t miss that at all. Glad Jrue is here. Still miss Rob, though.

One last thing is I'm unsure if it's the way their unis fit but he seems to have a gut or be out of shape to start the season.
ok fine

Milwaukee’s perimeter defense looks really bad. Cannot stop any penetration from Atlanta’s guards. And Lillard a no-show tonight offensively, really struggling with Murray on him. He’s a net negative out there right now.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Seems like the Celtics coaches were always enablers.
