Nice to see Jonathon Isaac played today.

I am surprised to see Brooklyn start Ben Simmons next to Nic Claxton. Those two guys shouldn't be playing toether. Neither one of them can make a jump-shot. Their spacing will be terrible. BKN will likely play poorly until they move away from that. They need to brin Finney-Smith back to the starting unit.

Cam Thomas with 36pts off the bench for the Nets.

Marcus Smart made his debut for Memphis. Played 32 mins and had 17pts, 3ast, 2stls, 5TO’s. Went 6-11 from the field, 2-6 from 3pt and 3-6 from the FT line. Grizz lost to the Pels, 104-111.

In other ex Celtics news Timelord had 10 pts 5 rebounds and Brogdon 5 pts 3 assists, both came off the bench.

Brogdon went for 20/2/5 in only 22 minutes. Hit 3 threes so the elbow must not be an issue.

Sochan hit 2 threes. Boy, that is a game-changer for him if he can consistently knock down triples. Wonderful defensive player, rebounder, ball-handler and passer. It is the jump-shooting that was holding him back.

It’s pretty worrisome that the guy can’t shoot free throws with two hands.

Looks like Wemby gonna take the L

Good, not great debut for Wemby. In 23 mins of play he had 15pts, 5rebs, 2ast, 2stl, 1blk. Also had 5 TO’s and 5 fouls, though.

His stat line would have been better if not for the fouls I think

Grant had a good game too. 17 pts on 6-11 shooting 4-8 from 3.

Still think Brad made the right decision trading depth for high end talent though

Just tuned in, interesting to see GWill in the starting lineup

Kinda funny watching him match up with Wemby. Grant looks so little next to him.

Strus had the best game of the night, at least when thinking about expectations.  27 points, 7 of 13 from 3, 12 rebounds and was +13 in the Cavs 1 point win.  If he plays like that the Cavs could be very good especially if Mobley makes the jump many think he can (they didnt even have Allen last night).  They won't be at Boston or Milwaukee level, but certainly could be the 3rd best team in the conference if they play up to their potential.

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I wish they play Rob more minutes. I think he could be a solid double double guy with steals and blocks. Ayton was really bad this game.

How do you have a players-only meeting after game 1?

Chicago sounds like a mess.

Brogdon led the Blazers in scoring... and frowns, off the bench.

Same crap he gave the Celts last year, right?

Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden showed up to the team’s practice facility in Camden, New Jersey, on Wednesday, much to the team’s surprise. He had been away for the prior 10 days to tend to a personal matter—an excused absence. During a light shooting session, Harden was approached by team officials. He was told it would be beneficial for him to remain in Philadelphia to continue the ramp-up process as opposed to going with the team on their two-game road trip starting with the season opener against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night, league sources tell Bleacher Report.

Harden had returned with the intention of reacclimating himself with the team, knowing assistant coach Rico Hines—his primary workout trainer—would be traveling along with the rest of the supporting staff, sources say. Initially, staying back was interpreted as a suggestion rather than a mandate, sources say. Harden proceeded to participate in portions of the session with the intention of joining the the team on the flight to Milwaukee that afternoon. After practice, Harden arrived at the fixed-base operator airport to board the team flight, but he was stopped by a security official who notified him that he was not permitted to accompany the team, sources say.

General manager Elton Brand and head coach Nick Nurse spoke to Harden to explain that the organization prefers he accepts and follows their workout plan, which includes staying at the practice facility while the team is away, sources say. It was expounded that the workout program includes monitoring his measurables and speed with their tracking system, which is located at the facility. The Sixers’ two-way players would also be staying back in Philadelphia with Harden, as well as a trainer with whom he regularly works. Harden, frustrated, departed the airport without further incident, sources say. – via Chris Haynes @ Bleacher Report

Yeah I got nothing against it. Harden is a massive loser. He probably was hoping he could join the trip just to go around the cities and vacation, not actually help the team
