He moved like a cheat code in a video game. I wish him the best.

Goodluck Rob! I like the Jrue acquisition but losing TL stings. In a way this is how I felt when Al Jeff was traded for KG. Like Al Jeff, we saw Rob grow from a lanky kid into a baller with real potential. Of course we got KG but yeah, it was tough to see a “homegrown” kid go. Like the OP said, you gotta give away talent to get talent.

My only thought is Brad doesn't think Rob will ever be the guy he was back in 2022 again for those few months before he got injured.

It seems a steep price to pay if he can get back to being that guy. He still has upside at 25. Although Even last year he only showed it in flashes.

Or Brad just figures that time is limited with this core anyway and we need to win now and the bucks leapfrogged us with dame. And signing Jrue holiday who is an elite defender and was an all-star last year puts us closer.

Realistically with the new cba hard decisions were going to need to be made eventually. And for this year having Jrue/KP is more top end talent. But less depth

Really going to miss Timelord.

That said, if last year is any indication I don't know if we'll see the 2022 Timelord again. Whether it's his actual health, mentality, psyche, etc., it just seemed like he lost a step after the last injury.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

I hope Rob gives the western conference hell. And I hope to see him back here someday. Dude is a Celtic.

Yep, was a big fan. In my head I can easily understand why we got rid of him - he is a walking injury, and he didn't quite recapture his form last season that he had shown in '21-'22.

But when he is healthy and playing, he is a complete game changer. Portland have an incredibly athletic group now, should be lots of fun to watch them.

plenty of teams like that, and like their lookalikes, none will surpass 25 wins and will be playing ping pong ball next season.
A) I think Portland have more talent than several of the other young teams (I rate Scoot pretty highly). Their depth chart is solid

Henderson / Brogdon
Simons / Thybulle
Grant / Murray
Timelord / Jabari Walker
Ayton / ?

B) I don't think Portland mind. They will be able to trade Grant for something, I imagine. Add some more young wing talent to their decent guard & big pairings.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Me too, when he played.  Let's be honest, 32, 29, 52, 61, 35 games played isn't exactly lineup anchor material.

Our size problem goes all the way back to Smart over Randle and our PG problems back to Nesmith over Anthony. With the Nesmith pick, they could have gone Stewart or Precious as well.  For some reason, they were stuck on SG's under Danny and trading out under Brad.

It's as easy as that!

I'll miss him and hope he does well in Portland. You have to trade something to get something. Jure is a big up grade. I think Wenyen Gabriel can come in and be a bargain bin TIMELORD. Gabriel is a hustle guy and block some shots.  He's not near TIMELORD at full health but he provides energy and hustle.

I agree, he was a fun guy to cheer for. But as you said you have to give up something to get something. And given his availability over the seasons he was with us it's a worthwhile thing to give up to get what we are getting.

I'll miss him. Seems like a great guy, great competitor, great teammate. What a fun player to watch.

I wish him the best and hope we see him again around the bend.

Through the years, Portland has always managed to bring entertaining product to the hardwood,… Walton, Sabonis, Drexler, Sheed, Zach, Aldridge, Lillard…

This is where I am. He was a game changer when healthy, but that's not as likely as him being injured based on his history. And he doesn't have the skillset to compensate for a drop in athleticism.

I truly wish him the best in the future and I might even stay up well past my bedtime time on a weekday to catch a Portland game and see how he's doing.
