I was really excited when we got Brogdon last summer. During the season though, he was disappointing. He shot exceptionally well from deep, but he was a black hole, and his defense was mediocre. This was a far cry from the facilitator with vet leadership that I was expecting. There were also signs throughout the season that he had an ego issue. Not at all the type of player you want to support your stars.

Jrue may be the guy who brings everything I was expecting from Brogdon and much more.

Yeah, same here. I was really expecting him to come in and be much more of a distributor. It's great that he shot so well and scored well, but we certainly needed more from him as a distributor and playmaker, let alone a better defender. Holiday should definitely help with all of those things.

Yeah he was 44% from three, and a great scoring punch off the bench, but he wasn't the next John Stockton getting 12apg so in all truthfulness he sucked. What a dud.  Get that guy out of here!

These comments are comical.  Do YOU know what he was asked to do by the coaching staff?

What if they said, we need a scorer off the bench when Jaylen comes out?  That's you, go for it!

Instead you guys are grasping at straws to nitpick this guy who was 6MOY and did nothing but act like a professional after being a starter and team leader in Indiana.

Echoing the sentiment. I don’t think he was bad or anything like but maybe not what I expected, especially from playmaking perspective and defense. Great shooting but thought he’d be able to create more for others. Seemed to get tunnel vision at times going to hoop. Maybe that is what they asked of him? Seems like he thought he was better/deserved more than being a 6th man. Jrue might just be a better for for what they are looking for.

Finally an all in move by the Celtics front office. I'm very excited to see all these pieces fitting together this year.

I’m down with it ,  I suspected  Brad would make a serious play for Jrue …it made a lot of sense.

I loved Rob , but just know he can’t stay on the court with that bad knee like we need him to.and no offense was killing us too often.

Brogdon is slowing us down with the injuries .

Can not rely on these two guys to be around when you need them down the stretch

Jrue is a good good Tuff player that can make up some for Smart

White and Jrue will,be a Tuff duo to deal with.

I think Jrue fit better starters than Smart …he is a better point guard with better handles .

Dude, whatever.  I don't know what you were watching but Brogdon was incredible during the regular season last year.

Black hole? Mediocre defense?  Ego issue?

Give any examples.

If you want to talk about his defense against Jimmy Butler, sure.  But Brogdon was a [dang] good player last year and it's poor form for anyone to take pot shots at him to make themselves feel better about trading him.
His defence throughout the entire postseason was shocking

only things i can think of why brad made this move.

1. he didnt think celtics were getting over the bucks. so needed to make an all in move.

2. Rob is never going to be the same. just a rotational big at this point due to injuries.

on one hand our starting lineup is insane. Jrue is a great defender averaged 20/7 last year and was an all-star. on the other Rob/brogdon/2 firsts is alot to give up for a 33/yo guard.

this is a be [dang]ed we are winning the chip this year put our chips on the table type move. realistically even with rob/brogdon we only have 2-3 years with this current iteration.

I mean, at least the two firsts weren't both next year's, LOL!

I m betting Jrue is healthier than Brogdon will ever be .

The health issues has derailed Boston year after year.

It also gives them a legit 3rd or 4th option scoring wise. Holiday gives them some positive leadership and toughness. Plus he has the cred from winning a title.

Yeah, the locker room aspect of Jrue is beyond reproach.  He's won the "Teammate of the Year" award three times, the only guy to ever win it more than once.  He's also won the NBA Sportsmanship Award.

I've followed Jrue's career from the night he was drafted.  I was actually at MSG covering the draft for CelticsBlog at the time.  I was impressed by his poise and confidence.  He's been a binkie ever since.  We're going to all love him.

For those who haven't followed him as closely, I was really impressed when he was with the Pelicans.  He had a nasty injury, and needed to have a rod placed in his leg.  He missed 40+ games in back to back seasons, and people were saying he might be washed.  Instead, he worked tremendously hard to get back, and committed himself to doing anything the team needed.

In 2018, he played primarily small forward despite being 6'3"...  and he made first team All-Defense!  Remember how Smart and Tony Allen would occasionally switch onto Lebron and give him fits for short stretches?  That was Jrue every night.  It was dang impressive.

I'm iffy about the trade value, but I LOVE the player.  He's not going to dog it, or be selfish.  I think he'll help the team on the floor, but he's also a legit veteran who can take Tatum and Brown under his wing.

Pritchard has 11.  I'm assuming #21, like he did in Milwaukee.

Ah.  I guess that won't do.  What numbers do we have available?  The recently opened up #13 and #44 don't seem all that appealing.

I'll guess #12, then?  That was Grant, right?  And Rozier?
