Ultimately, they let go of Brogdon, Smart and Timelord for Porzingis + Holiday, and kept White

Also lost G-Will though, so the frontcourt in general feels thin.

Grant rode the bench though the later half of last season, so no loss in terms of on court impact.

Two injury prone players and one player whose defense watered down and offense is slacking was a pretty solid transaction to get Zinger and Jrue.

Sounds like the Malcolm situation was a major factor behind this. I think this is from the Boston Globe article from Himmelsbach, but it says that his issues with the team were exacerbated after White was announced as starting point guard post Smart trade.

I get the sense that despite winning the SMOY award and playing nice all season, he was never really fully into the sixth man idea. And this is despite him still getting injured and being a non-factor in the ECF, as well as his defense taking a major stepback.

That is a disappointing reaction from Brogdon.

Also probably not hte best man-management from Mazzula.

I don't have a X/Twitter account, but I heard Joel Embiid sent out a Tweet regarding the Holiday trade. "This off-season was fun ****."

Can Porzingis defend Giannis?

Is Horford our only non-Tatum defender for Giannis?

One thing I find hilarious from other fanbases is how overrated C’s players are when on the team but the minute they leave it’s how much they will be missed lol

Brogdon never thought he was going to be the 6th man when he was brought it. He was a good soldier but I don’t think he was ever happy with it.

Think the relationship was nuked when he was just about traded to the clippers and then when white was named the starting point guard. Don’t think the relationship was salvageable.

It's taking me awhile, but I'm warming up to the idea. The talent disparity in the starting lineup between the Jays and the the rest has decreased. That is a very good thing, as teams can no longer afford to cheat off weaker offensive players. As for the bench, there is no reason to make mass substitutions. Maybe sit 2-3 starters at a time, and the team will still have at least two starters on the court that can lead the group and provide scoring. I'm guessing, Tatum will play a lot of minutes at PF.

I'm loving Brad as a GM. The guy is not afraid and knows what he is doing. BTW, isn't Celtics media day tomorrow? What time does it start and will it be streamed live on Youtube?

I was really excited when we got Brogdon last summer. During the season though, he was disappointing. He shot exceptionally well from deep, but he was a black hole, and his defense was mediocre. This was a far cry from the facilitator with vet leadership that I was expecting. There were also signs throughout the season that he had an ego issue. Not at all the type of player you want to support your stars.

Jrue may be the guy who brings everything I was expecting from Brogdon and much more.

So all the news about Brogdon being disgruntled turned out to be true. This may have been the motivation to go all out for Jrue. Sad to see TL go but he was a necessary piece. I’m interested to see what Gabriel and Queta could give us, specially during those B2B games that Al would miss. I think Brad rolls with these guys until a decent big man becomes available at the deadline or via buyouts.

It's from The Athletic and if you read the piece a bit beyond this quote, it says he wasn't happy about being included in trade talks but he was already in Boston working out as of late September and had intended to report to media day and training camp.

The "Malcolm isn't happy angle" has been blown out of proportion, imo. Of course there's going to be some bad feelings about being told you're a huge part of the team's future during exit interviews to then be all but traded a week or so later. But every indication suggests he was going to handle it professionally.

Yeah, same here. I was really expecting him to come in and be much more of a distributor. It's great that he shot so well and scored well, but we certainly needed more from him as a distributor and playmaker, let alone a better defender. Holiday should definitely help with all of those things.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Dude, whatever.  I don't know what you were watching but Brogdon was incredible during the regular season last year.

Black hole? Mediocre defense?  Ego issue?

Give any examples.

If you want to talk about his defense against Jimmy Butler, sure.  But Brogdon was a [dang] good player last year and it's poor form for anyone to take pot shots at him to make themselves feel better about trading him.
