As more and more of these lists come out, I don't look like the crazy negative loon, I'm often projected as on here.

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah

Brown is interesting, considering he was #19 last year.

"The 2022-23 regular season was the best of Jaylen Brown's career, as he averaged career-highs across the board... overshadowed by his showing in the 2023 Eastern Conference finals, which was one of the worst stretches of basketball he has ever played"

Surpassed expectations in the regular season, then one bad series and he drops in the ranking.  Had he missed the Miami series with a non-serious minor injury, I wonder where he would have been ranked?

Guys that leapfrogged him:

Haliburton, 53 to 23
Edwards: 32 to 22
Adebayo: 28 to 20
Fox: 57 to 19
Murray: 35 to 18
SGA: 36 to 11

I think it's fair for Murray and SGA to have surpassed him.  Edwards/Haliburton probably have bigger expected jumps built into their projections, which is fair, but still hit or miss.  Bam I'm surprised passed him.

Guys like Embiid and Mitchell certainly didn't shine in the playoffs, but apparently didn't get dinged for it.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

White at 62 is pretty impressive.  Nice to see him getting some props.

Interesting how close they have Smart (#56) and Porzingis (#49).

I noticed that too.  So we gave up #56 in exchange for #49 (who is younger) and two 1st round picks?

Smart seems too high to me.  I think he is around 70 and only going to get worse.  That said, I think he has more value to Memphis than he does here, so maybe impact wise that is close to right.

I think most of your takes are fairly reasonable, but I'm not sure being in step with the offseason clickteasers is a badge I'd wear with much honour, myself.

Smart ahead of White & Brogdon is a bit baffling to me - let alone Maxey, Anunoby, Giddey & Randle.

Caruso continues to be wildly overrated with his inability to play one side of the game. Austin Reaves ahead of Scottie Barnes & Jalen Williams (among many others) is astonishingly bad.

Jaren Jackson is super overrated. Trae Young ahead of Brown confuses me, amongst others
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

These lists are interesting.  It is a perspective, worth considering, but by no means definitive or absolute.

So Tatum makes first team All-NBA but is 7th on this list.  It is hard to argue with the list, all the top 7-8 are great players.  But I question Durant over Tatum.  Durant has not been better than Tatum for about 2 seasons.  Why project him as being better than Tatum next season?  Seems like he is being rewarded for past performance.  So is Tatum top 5 or top 10?  What does it matter is my question.

As to Brown, I like Brown better than some of those in the say 15-25 range.  Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are kind of like Durant.  Based on the last couple of seasons, how can you project that they are going to stay on the court and play better than Brown this coming season?  Then you have the cluster of other young'ish players, Trae, Ja, Fox, Murray, Haliburton, even Edwards who in my mind are not all definitively better than Brown in terms of projecting next season.  So top 20, top 25, whatever.

For Porzingis, relative to other bigs, of course Jokic, Giannis, and Embiid are the top guys, but they have all of the following ahead of Porzingis:

Davis
Adebayo
Zion
Jackson, Jr.
Draymond
Siakam
Sabonis
Towns
Mobley
Markkanen

Then Porzingis and Brook Lopez at 49 and 50.  I see that as kind of the floor for Porzingis.  I would much rather have Porzingis than Lopez, I don't see them as equal at all, and I think Porzingis will outplay some if not many of those they have ahead of him.  It is a hard call as some of those "bigs" are coming off injuries and may bounce back, may not.

For the rest of the Celtics, White, Brogdon, Williams, and Horford (who should not be that far out of the top 100), whatever.  Top 100 is a nice place to be with our 4-7 players

Other notables:

100.  Grant Williams
58.  Victor Wembanyama
56.  Marcus Smart
14.  Ja Morant
13. Anthony Davis
12.  Lebron James

I know predicting Lebron's demise is de rigueur, but I have a feeling this is the last "elite" year for him.

Not because he won't be as smart, strong, or athletic (even though that is starting to fade) but because I think the miles will finally catch up with him this season and he'll start to break down with injuries.

The older you get, the easier it is to get injured, even if you have Iron Man athleticism and willpower.

If I'm wrong, I will actually truly enjoy seeing a guy his age continue to dominate and play major minutes.

Just ratchet up the roids a touch.  Problem solved.
