Speaking of the 12 team, using the rankings we'd get

Top 4 byes
5 FSU v. 12 Liberty
6 Georgia v. 11 Miss
7 Ohio St v. 10 PSU
8 Oregon c. 9 Missou

Perhaps they'd swap PSU and Miss to avoid the rematches, but that would be some interesting games. At least if this happened FSU would essentially get a home game bye to get the QB some more experience before playing Bama in the quarters.
5th spot could be the sweet spot.  Get an easy G5 opponent at home in the 1st round and then get the easiest P5 champ, probably Big12, in the 2nd round.
many years 12th isn't actually the minor conference school and one year not that long ago, 2 minor conference teams would have been in
Those G5 teams stepped up to P5 and found out being in a P5 conference is a lot tougher.  Has any current G5 team been inside the top 12 over the past decade?

I edited my last post, Coastal Carolina was 12th the same year Cincinnati was 9.  Cincinnati is now in the Big 12, but Coastal Carolina is not (Sun Belt).  Houston and UCF have also done it, but like Cincinnati are now in the Big 12 (BYU was also close finishing at 13, but is in the Big 12).  So the Big 12 is just adding all of the smaller conference schools that make runs. Ha.

Some other team will do it, probably not Liberty as they are losing their coach and QB, but some team will get the right coach and make a run like those other schools have.

I wonder if FSU will do what that other Florida team, UCF, did in 2017 and award themselves a national championship after an undefeated season back in 2017.

Kyle McCord transferring from Ohio State.  Won't be playing against Missou.

So sad how UGA got robbed. The refs gifted 10 points to Alabama (like usual) and they lose by 3. Then the committee decides theyre ranked 6th? Its still such a flawed system.

Wouldnt be surprised if a lot of players from both FSU and Georgia sit out to get ready for the draft now that its basically a pointless game
everyone got so sensitive after 9-11... thanks alot bin laden

He isn’t that great. Osu will have a better quarterback next year most likely

He obviously isn't as good as Stroud, but a lot of Buckeye fans thought Stroud wasn't that good either and he seems to be having no problem dominating the NFL with one of the best rookie seasons ever from a QB.  So is it McCord or is it coaching? I mean McCord was a 4 or 5 star prospect (depending on scout service). Highly recruited. Has excellent offensive weapons (though the line isn't all that good).  Yet that was true of Stroud last year (with a better line and a WR that got drafted in the 1st) and he often didn't look that great for the Buckeyes either.

I'm really coming around to the idea that Day needs to go.  Can't beat Michigan and his play calling is not good. Harbaugh may have been right when he said that Day started on 3rd base and thought he hit a triple.

This is Jamey Chadwell's 1st year at Liberty.  I haven't seen an announcement that he is leaving.
Liberty went undefeated but the played an incredibly easy schedule not facing any P5 teams.  SMU got screwed over because they lost 2 road games against Big12 opponents.

Definitely seems like Day is feeling the pressure.  McCord may not have been great but he beat out all the other QBs on the roster.  Counting on a transfer QB is risky.  Hartman didn't elevate ND and Kentucky fans who thought Leary was going to raise their play were seriously disappointed.

Edit - I was surprised to see Evan Pryor has entered the portal.  I would have assumed that he would take over with Henderson and Williams leaving.

I just assumed Chadwell was going to leave given he left  Coastal Carolina for Liberty (and before that Charleston Southern) for what appears to be financial reasons (he is also a man of faith and Liberty has a massive budget for that level if school).  I just figured some big school would open up the checkbook for him given his large amount of success at multiple schools. He was linked to Miss. St. last week.

I think they are hoping Air Noland is the real deal and steps right in immediately.

Julian Fleming entered the portal.  He is a huge loss for Buckeyes as well.  Also strange given the steady stream of 1st round WR's at the school.

I was surprised he didn't get a P5 offer last offseason.  I was also surprised that he left for Liberty but then I saw that they more than doubled his salary.

The other benefit of the 12-team playoff, at least you'll have more teams trying in the bowl games. Because make no mistake, all the teams not in the Top-4 will have guys sitting out or not trying hard as they look to stay healthy for the NFL Draft or just focus their prep for that. And I don't blame them either.

well I doubt McCord, Fleming, Pryor, and a whole bunch of Buckeye backups enter the portal before a playoff game like they did this year before the Cotron Bowl.

NCAA really needs to get some set rules on the portal. It is crazy.

Hoping is not a good recipe for success.  Expecting a true freshman to hit the grounding running at a school with such high expectations is a big gamble.  More than 2 losses and you're probably not making the playoffs.  I was going to say Trevor Lawrence was one of the rare exceptions but even he didn't take over for Kelly Bryant until several games into the season.
