Is Giannis going to be any more durable than Porzingis moving forward?  Or Anthony Davis?  I get that competitive players want to win and want the organizations they play for to be all in, but I think Giannis saying this much in public is not the right way to go about it.  We'll see if he tones it down moving forward.

Subtract his body off  the court , they would struggle to earn a playoff spot IMO .

Giannis certainly matters .

I d trade Brown for Giannis  ;D

I'd do that all day everyday any day of the week

Milwaukee don't have a choice-- if they wanna keep Giannis happy then they need to build a team around him to win. If not, then he dips. I think he's saying this right now that if the Bucks don't wanna win then they should just trade him now while they still can right?

Altho it's ironic because he's stated in the past that he only wants to play for Milwaukee and do not want to form superteams. But it sounds like his destinations I've heard are Lakers (LeBron, Davis) and Knicks (Brunson, Randle, Barrett). Contradictory.

As much as we like stars to be loyal and commit to their teams, this makes sense.  And it maybe it's just because Giannis is a likeable guy, but this is better than the fake "I want to stay here for life" and the also fake "I haven't thought about that yet, I'm just concentrating on this season."

He can sign a 3 year extension that would take him through '28 (or maybe '29 not sure how the option year on his current contract works with this).  And this season Lopez will be 35, Jrue will be 33, and Middleton will be 32.  And all the Bucks 1st round picks from '24 to '27 are traded away or the worse end of a swap, and they have no desirable young players, and not a top free agent destination.  Really what are the Bucks going to look like in '25, '26, '27?  Who would really want to commit to that situation long term, where if you do you risk ending up like Lillard?
If they re-sign Giannis, I think they will be fine as they'd have more than max cap room in a couple of off seasons (if they don't use it the first it would carry over).  Portland never had that, and Giannis is significantly better than Lillard making playing with him more enticing.  I could totally see a player or two wanting to play with Giannis and really go for the title even in Milwaukee.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Do the Bucks have the guts to renounce Middleton and Holiday though.

And I did find Giannis's phrasing interesting. The part about how he sacrifices family time while others don't. Who is he referring to?

Lol at Brunson randle and Barrett being the foundation of a super team.

Well maybe if he didn't miss 2 games and then in the closeout game go 10 of 23 from the line.  A game they were winning by 16 entering the 4th quarter.  They'd have won the title again this year.

Financially it doesn't make sense for him to extend this summer, but he needs to stay healthy and learn how to hit some foul shots for Milwaukee to get back to the Finals.
It's so odd - his first two All-Star seasons, he was around the 77% mark from the line. Since then, 68%, including 2 seasons below 65%.

A similar thing happened to Westbrook, except more dramatic. Russ was an 82% FT shooter over his first 9 seasons. Since then? 69% over 5 seasons.

How do these star players forget how to shoot FTs?

I believe their hands keep growing and it is harder to control the ball when it feels like a volleyball

Someone once pointed out how Giannis' FT shooting deterioration coincided with him bulking up. That he was a better shooter before the muscle gain. That he lost his jumper in the process.

Giannis never had a jump shot to lose.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

What Giannis wants, Giannis gets…

The Bucks have added a third Antetokounmpo brother to their offseason roster, according to RealGM’s official NBA transaction log, which lists Milwaukee as having recently signed Alex Antetokounmpo to a one-year contract. – via Hoops Rumors

Lots of criticism of Giannis.  What's wrong with saying he wants to see where the team is in two years and make a decision then?  I mean, the team flirted with letting Lopez go.  Who knows where they'll be in two summers?

Absolutely nothing wrong with that as long as he doesn't start trying to dictate player personnel decisions.

Like ensuring that two of his brothers have spots on the team. Lol.

The Bucks are going to have to totally reset in 2-3 years when every single one of their rotation contracts expires, and most of those guys (Jrue is 33, Middleton is 32, Brook is 35) are going to be 35+. They don't really have anyone younger who is exciting or even a future potential starter. I'm not a fan of the public statements either way but it's a totally reasonable position to take to say he wants to say who is even on the team and how they navigate that generational transition.

Didn't see this post before making mine. Totally agree.
