There already seems to be rumblings that the Pats will take a tackle with their first round pick.
IF the Pats aren't sold on Maye/Daniels... then I would really consider trading #3 to Chicago for #9, Justin Fields, and another future 3rd or 4th rounder.
1. Use #9 on a OT (Alt or Fashanu).
2. Either trade up with #34 to get back into the late 1st and take Penix OR just use #34 on a WR.
3. Keep Bourne, Onwenu, Henry
4. Use a 5th round pick on Reichard to replace Chad Ryland as kicker. Yes, it's risky like Ryland but Reichard was a beast in college and should be there in the 5th round + this team can not just roll Ryland back out there. They need a kicker. I guess they could sign a veteran name but idk who is out there.
Yes, Fields has his flaws, but again, he's still a young prospect who has shown improvement, has mobility, and could serve as a bridge for 2024 because absolutely no way do I want Mac and Zappe back on this team. If you aren't sold on Maye/Daniels, this makes a lot of sense IMO.
Brissett meanwhile could still be signed as a solid backup, maybe around 6-8M (not egregious). I know people suggest that we just go acquire a veteran QB like Cousins/Mayfield/Murray, etc. but those guys are either staying put or making bank. No way the Pats are splurging big money on a FA QB. In that regard, Minshew and Brissett feel like the only realistic options as bridge QBs or backups.
