Gonzalez is a future pro bowler and Barmore is on the cusp.

They're just not hitting on many draft picks.

Beginning to think more & more that the play is to trade down from 3 and load up on capital.

Unless, presumably, they are absolutely sold on Daniels being the guy, trade out of the slot.  As much as I love Harrison, I think the Pats would be better served trading down and building up the war chest.

Draft is such a crapshoot. I’d rather take the guy that’s basically a “can’t miss” prospect at 3 with MHJ. WR is also a huge need for the Pats.

It certainly is.  My thinking is that the have several areas of need.  Rather than potentially reaching on a QB (Daniels), and needing more than simply a WR, trade down and pick up extra picks.  Ideally, stay in the top 10.  More picks always helps mitigate for those potential whiffs.

They also have a boatload of cap space to help address things too.

If they stay put and take Harrison, I'd be fine with it too.  I certainly wouldn't be throwing things at the TV if they draft him. My larger concern is the QB reach.   I just think the trade down might be the best move for a team that is several steps away to getting back to being a playoff team.

I agree that they have a lot of needs, just would hate to miss out on a guy that seems to be a sure thing. Feel like MHJ is going to be a Julio Jones level talent. Especially after the whole debacle with drafting N’Keal Harry over Deebo Samuel, AJ Brown, DK Metcalf… That still stings. Lol

Can spend a good chunk of the cap on the O-line. If they have a decent O-line, a legit #1 in MHJ, they can fairly evaluate Mac and go from there. If he doesn’t get back to how he played his rookie year, move on.

Tell Brady to reconsider his ownership stake with the Raiders and come back and suit up with the Patriots. Him throwing passes to MHJ along with our other better weapons and if we improve the o-line, Pats would be going to places again lol.

Cuz current Brady > Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe, and whoever our QB3 is combined

Lol, no. Not unless Brady has continued to take the juice after he retired.

Honestly, if Caleb Williams and Drake Maye are guaranteed to go 1-2 and neither the Bears or Commanders trade out of it, I probably would give up a 2nd or 3rd round pick for Fields and use the #3 pick on MHJ.

I like Jayden Daniels but it's risky. And this way, you still get a mobile QB and add a legit WR1 in MHJ. Tackle is still a need but it's a very deep draft for it, you can even get one in the 3rd round potentially. Keep Bourne, Henry and Elliot to go along with Douglas, Stevenson, etc. and I think you're a solid team that can grow with Mayo as HC and Fields the QB. Or even if Fields doesn't pan out, you can still build up the team and then either sign or draft one later on. The QB is important but you also need a stout O-Line + a few good weapons to help them (look at Houston, Green Bay, etc.)

I know people will mention Baker Mayfield, Kirk Cousins, etc. but Baker is probably staying in Tampa, Kirk Cousins + Kyler Murray make a ton (or will make a ton elsewhere) and outside of that it's the bridge QBs anyways like Jimmy G, Brissett, etc. No thanks. Fields is still young and intriguing. He definitely seemed to improve in the 2nd half of the previous season as well.

The other approach might be to trade #3 for #9 plus Fields, 2024 2nd, 2025 2nd (or something like that). Pats pick a top OT at 8, pick a WR and another lineman with their 2 picks their two 2nd rounders.

Bears have a huge draft day with Williams and MHJ.

Oh man this would be amazing. Especially if they do their homework and don't think Jayden Daniels is it (plus Caleb + Maye are already taken).

It'd definitely be a HR for Chicago to get Caleb + MHJ. Meanwhile NE gets a young project QB, they can keep Mac around as a backup if he doesn't find another home, and they use #9 on a tackle and the additional pick(s) to acquire a WR like Coleman/Worthy/Franklin/Thomas Jr/Walker, etc.

WR and OT are two DEEP positions in this draft. You can still get a quality one even in the 2nd or 3rd rounds outside of the obvious names (MHJ, Fashanu, Odunze, Naber, etc.)

The New England Patriots have scheduled an interview for Dolphins WR Coach Wes Welker for their vacant OC position, per source.

The idea of trading the third pick for Justin Fields and multiple picks reminds me of a scene in the TV show Arrested Development. Will Arnett's character performs a magic trick, where he says I'm going to change this $100 bill into 100 pennies. As he's saying it, he burns the bill and throws the 100 pennies. The joke being that he thought it was the monetary equivalent.

Former Patriots tight ends coach Nick Caley will interview to become the team’s next offensive coordinator, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday. Caley, who currently works as the Rams tight ends coach, is reportedly scheduled to speak with the Patriots on Monday.

He's my pick. Should have gotten it in 2022 instead of that fraud Patricia

If the Falcons hire someone other than Belichick, then what option does Belichick actually have? I'm serious, it doesn't sound like the Chargers or Commanders want him. Don't think the Titans do either. Cowboys and Eagles are already keeping their current coaches. Maybe there's a dark horse I'm not thinking of but overall there are a handful of other candidates (Harbaugh, Vrabel, etc.).

I wonder if he gets forced to "sit out 2024" if the Falcons don't hire him. Falcons seem to be interviewing everyone though and taking a 2nd interview on multiple guys, not just Belichick. It's not a slam dunk like it felt a week ago

I think the Falcons job is his, if he wants it. Arthur Blank is old and desperate. That teams needs a defensive identity.

Yeah but if not, I don't think Belichick will have a choice unless another team becomes desperate

Sources: Patriots coach Jerod Mayo will interview Rams assistants Nick Caley and Zac Robinson for New England's OC job this week. Caley interviews tomorrow, Robinson interviews on Tuesday.

Caley coached in New England from 2015-22. Robinson played for the Patriots in 2010.

If they can get both into the building that'd be amazing. Maybe Robinson OC, Caley for QB coach + an assistant OC role under Robinson.
