Thank God for the Celtics because the rest of the sports teams right now don't inspire much.

Maybe the bruins will be better than we thought though.

The Bruins at least have some star talent and players who are fun to watch even if the team isn’t going to break regular season records again.  When Judon and Gonzalez went down the Pats lost their two most entertaining players IMO.

Exactly. With Gonzalez I could see a future stud corner in real time. Mac isn't the answer, our O line isn't pancaking anybody. Stevenson has been meh, and the only mildly exciting WR is in Bill's dog house.

Might as well build for the future.

At least we can continuously bash on Belichick for his poor GM decisions and questionable coaching leading them to a 1-5 (and loss-counting) record!

At this point, they might as well just keep losing. I'm no fan of losing, but when it's obvious that a team is pretty bad (maybe not as bad as their record, but still pretty bad), they might as well lose. I mean, at this point, chances are slim to none that they make the playoffs, and why end up, say, 5-12 when you could end up 2-15 and get a better draft pick? Even if all of NE's injured O-line starters come back soon and stay healthy the rest of the season, it's still not a particularly good O-line; and though Mac might be better than he's shown so far this season, he's not exactly a dynamo—to win a Super Bowl with him, the team would have to have SF-level weapons, and the Pats have none of that. And there's really no way that Belichick can significantly improve the O-line and offensive skill positions during this season. So, at this point, as much as losses bother me, I'd rather have them be really bad than just sorta bad, because really bad brings a better draft position and a greater sense of urgency for change next offseason.

Exactly. No brainier to be really bad than be sorta bad.

But if it involves someone getting fired then they might be coaching for their lives. In this case, Belichick lol. But frankly, I'm done with BB. Time for some new bloods running this team.

The Pats are 100% going to win some meaningless games down the stretch to mess up their draft position

I have resigned myself to that reality. We will be on pace for a top 3ish pick and win a few stupid games to end up with the 8th pick.

Rubenstein asked Kraft about Bill Belicick’s job status. As head coach and de facto general manager, Belichick plays a significant role in assembling and coaching the roster.

The Patriots are 1-5 for the first time since 1995, which was Kraft’s second year owning the team. The team’s performance has prompted questions about whether Belichick should continue on as Patriots coach.

“I’ll let you ask him, he has to decide what’s right for him,” Kraft said.

Kraft also spoke about what went in to the decision to let Tom Brady leave.

“I always would talk to him, and he would take less money to play for the Patriots, and you know we have a salary cap,” Kraft said. “So, I always assured him that whatever money I didn’t pay him wasn’t going into my pocket, it was going to other players who would be around him, and if we won those kind of trophies, he would be the biggest beneficiary for the rest of his life which in fact has happened.”

“You know, if the Patriots can’t win a Super Bowl, I’m always rooting for Tom Brady,” Kraft continued. “After being with him for 20 years, we could have franchised him or done other things. I said to him when he did his last contract two years before that at year 20, he would decide whether he would stay with us or not. I think he earned that right, and for his own personal reasons he felt it was best to move on.”

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

From @NFLGameDay: This past offseason, #Patriots coach Bill Belichick quietly agreed to a lucrative multi-year new contract, sources say. That, at least, adds some context to the discussions about the greatest coach in NFL history

WOW.

Now I'm wondering what Mayo was even promised? He even turned down HC interviews last year to stay because he was likely the next in command here, but now we're hearing Belichick signed an extension? I guess they paid Mayo a ton to stay in the same role and wait, but for how long?

Also, it's ridiculous to me that Brady was shown the door, and yet Belichick is the one being afforded all these luxuries to stay here. Insanity.

Another thing, remember when Kraft sent that memo to season ticket holders last year right after the season? This team has become worse and outside of O'Brien and Klemm, it's not like much else has changed with the roster or coaching staff. Achord + Judge are still here. And make no mistake, if the Eagles didn't just randomly swoop in I think Patricia would still be here in some role too.

Yes - tackling has been horrendous. Tons of yards after first hit.
That one gave Buffalo an extra minute.
