In two years. Honestly if he received the richest contract in the NBA, then all expectations are to the max. If no NBA title, def in two years.

TP footney and Wizard for having the cahones to actually make a prediction!

Title or no title, I think he's gone by year 3 at the latest. Only way I see him being kept is if he and tatum are so good they can win a title surrounded by scrubs.

I could be wrong, but I just don't(provided the above doesn't happen) see how the team could be title contenders with such a top-heavy cap.

Something is going to have to give.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

8 years from now, on his second supermax, after 4 titles. 😁

This thread seems a bit premature.

If we don't win any titles over the length of Porzingis' contract, I expect we'd probably look to totally reshape the team.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

maybe things will go well and Tatum and Brown will continue to improve, we will win at least 1-2 titles
and both end up retiring as Celtics.

Why can't that be the narrative?

At first I read the title and I think ‘aww come on. “ But it’s just spitballing and maybe it doesn’t work out. But I do lean toward what you are saying.
Overall my take on the Celtics is the talent is the best in the league. I think we still have tHe best mix of players. But I can’t believe we’re wasting ANY time with Mazulla. Not everyone can have Greg Popovich but I’m shocked they’re still going with him when there was so little player movement and so many “ meh “ 3 attempts. I know it’s about money but I think this team is so good ,especially with the addition of Kristaps, that I’m still surprised ownership doesn’t eat all that money and go after a respected, established coach with a little clout.
Maybe the assistants will be in his ear about calling timeouts, at least.

I realize that offering the max deal was the Celtics only reasonable option.

Having said that, between Brown's lack of basketball brains and Mazzulla's lack of the same, I'm afraid we are not winning titles.
He can work his ass off all he wants, but if he continues to make bad decisions with the ball, any skills improvement won't matter.
So many fans cannot seem to understand that Jaylen's turnover issues are not about his dribbling skill, they are about what he dribbles into.

Mazzulla is simply an idiot, in way over his head. Doesn't make him a bad person - I blame Brad for the mind-numbing decision to keep the guy for another season. We are wasting the prime years of the best talent we've had since Garnett's teams. A good coach could greatly reduce Jaylen's bad habits by teaching him what not to do with the basketball and demanding accountability. A good coach will also know how to utilize Brown's best skills to contribute towards winning instead of just racking up empty stats.

Beal is a good (and scary) comp, IMO.

If we don’t win this upcoming season or next, I don’t see how he’s anything more than a salary dump. Not because of his talent, but who’s giving up upwards of $60M in assets for a guy who’s getting paid $300M to be a #2 on a team that consistently fell short of expectations?

I hope it’s never a discussion and we are raising multiple banners during this contract, but if we don’t… that’s a tough contract to get fair value for.

A bit of an over-reaction to a guy who stepped in literally right before the season started, without any prior HC NBA experience, and coached team to 2nd best record in NBA with most team wins since 2008-09 season, and one game short of going back to the NBA finals.

Hiring assistant coaches in the hope that they will prop up an inferior head coach ?
That's just such a bad way to manage any team in any sport.
