Per Keith Smith, Thunder have too many guys on roster and need to cut or trade some.  Wonder if Brad can work something out here??

A bunch of those guys they just received picks for in salary dumps (Bertans, Gay, Garuba, Oladipo, and Washington) so I think a) we know who’s likely to be cut and b) their value around the league, since anyone could have had them for free at their current contracts.  Maybe we can convince a guy like Gay that he wants to be the bench 3/4 that Brad is looking for, but none of these players should be trade candidates.

Add to that Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins are non-guaranteed so they are likely waivable also.  If they waive the 5 from above and these two, that gets them pretty close.

I am not sure Celtics bite on any of them.

Absolutely want Isaiah Joe.  41% from 3 last year. Cut Champagnie.

Me too, though it’s for me to believe they couldn’t get at least a 2nd round pick in return considering how well he played last season.

He’s probably not on the cut list, nor even #15 I’d imagine.

Is there room for Holmgren and Poku on the same team? I know Chet is better, but they both seem to be crazy skinny and crazy long. Maybe we could get Poku as a backup to Zinger so that we can manage his minutes better. Do the Thunder still have plans for this guy? I'm not that tuned into OKC's comings and goings.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

I imagine along with Chet Jaylin Williams is a priority to give playing time to among their bigs. He played very well from January on for them in a starting role. So maybe Poku will have limited role if he stays. Tre Mann is an interesting player as a scorer off the bench who can create his own shot well. He looks to be behind Joe and Wiggins on the depth chart.

The Thunder were 17 points worse when Poku played than when he sat.  There’s some noise in those numbers, but I’ve rarely seen worse with a guy who played 700 minutes.  If the Thunder are actually trying to win this year, I’m not convinced he survives the cut day, nor would I be disappointed if he didn’t wind up as a Celtic

Garuba as our 4th big would be nice.

Still only 21 years old, 6'8" with a 7'2" wingspan, can rebound and defend at decent levels, plus was a 41% shooter from deep (small sample size) and is an okay passer.

No interest in TyTy Washington with our roster, nor Oladipo and his injuries. Rudy Gay looked pretty washed last season. I'd be alright with Kenrich Williams. No interest in Bertans.

1. SGA
2. Giddey
3. Jalen Williams
4. Holmgren
5. Lu Dort
6. Dieng
7. Poku
8. Joe
9. Robinson-Earl
10. Jaylin Williams
11. Wallace
12. Johnson
13. Mann
14. Wiggins
15. Kenrich Williams
16. Garuba
17. Washington
18. Oladipo
19. Bertans
20. Gay

I would not mind Lindy Waters III

he was on the roster last year

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/waterli01.html

he has good around numbers and the Thunder were a plus 9.6 with him on the court

Boston - Poku, Mann, Garuba, Covington
LA - Brogdon
OKC - Zubac, BOS 24 1st

Seems reasonable for all 3 teams and the Thunder go from 3 to 1.

Boston takes in the exact salary of Brogdon so it doesn't increase.

So post-trade lineup

Starters - White, Brown, Tatum, Zinger, Rob
Rotation - Mann, Pritchard, Hauser, Brisset, Poku, Covington, Horford
Deep Bench - Banton, Garuba, Walsh, Davison (2W), Scrubb (2W)
To Be Cut/Dumped - Kornet, Champagnie, Griffin

A lot more depth and balance to the roster and as I said, salary is the same.  If they can find someone to take the last 3 (or perhaps someone like Covington), they'd save money while filling out the roster so that would be a bonus.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner
