this is the second such video i've seen so far. Rob just taking tons of jumpers/outside shots. Honestly if he can hit a jumper consistently that would be HUGE for our offense. Granted you want him in the paint, but if he can just hit a 15 ft jumper teams wont be able to sag off him as much to stay on tatum/brown.

I’ve always wanted him to take at least one a game just to the opponent honest.  I think he’d shoot at a low percentage from midrange.  It just will be less than his usual 80%!

I think it would do wonders for his game. Not that he's ever gonna be Horford or KP but teams won't be able to slack off him too much.

And maybe all the attention Tatum gets when driving he can shoot a wide open shot.

This is great, would be a huge addition to his game.  His release is too slow though.  And on almost every shot, he brought the ball down to his waist or lower before shooting.  He still has some work to do.

Reminiscent to me of Amir Johnson's shot.

I don't think this matters as much as it would if he was a #1, #2 or #3 option. The idea is if the play breaks down and Rob is wide open, it would be great if he can hit a baseline or foul line jumper.

Agree, being able to make a wide open shot, and having the confidence to take it, is better than not being able to do that.  But with that slow release, it still allows defenses to sag off him.  Making a few may force to defense to stay a little closer, but without a quicker release, the defense will still not fully "respect" the shot.  And if he brings the ball down every time, the defenses will learn this and the ball will get slapped away.  I am nit picking, glad to see him putting in the work.

Fully agree. I just hope he's NOT working on a 3-pointer. Just focus on hitting a mid-range foul-line extended or a baseline shot.

My feeling on this is it can't hurt. If he's wide open and needs to shoot nothing wrong with being able to hit the shot. Gives guys guarding him one more thing to think about when he catches the ball.

That said I can't see this being a huge deal for the c's offense as a whole. Are the c's really going to run pN-pops for TimeLord to get him mid range jumpers? I REALLY DOUBT that. They have better offensive options now with Brown/Tatum and KP/Timelord (rolling).

Still, its nice to see him just healthy for a summer.

Right, so in case you missed it, I will quote myself from a couple of posts up:

Rob's biggest weakness is his inability to create off the dribble.  He has zero handle.  These  videos are all catch and shoot stuff, which is cool, but not really going to move the needle for him much offensively.

I think it helps. He's never going to be a top option offensively. But right now he's just a lob threat and down by the basket.

If he ends up wide open with the ball and can just knock down a couple wide open jumpers it opens up the floor Abit rather than just having to pass the ball. So many guys like Brandon bass and even KG lived off that wide open jumper off the pick and roll.

I’ll believe it when I see it in a game but it would be about time from these dum dums. Nice release from foul line. It’s just been beyond stupid they don’t even allow him to look at the hoop. I’m sure he can drop fave up shots already in that range as well as using 1 power dribble to go up to the hoop. They’ve just been religiously devoted to their stupid mathematics.

He can shoot. Having the confidence to shoot in a game is something he hasn’t had.  Makes me think he’ll revert to fear of shooting pretty quickly if shots don’t fall.  He also has the capacity to pass well, if not just a bit too hastily at times. I think he sees the floor well and has good awareness of where teammates are.  My guess is if he can draw bigs out to cover him near the foul line, he’ll have opportunities to find open players with uncontested cuts to the hoop.  Love idea that he’s working on the shot - very dubious that he’ll actually shoot.
