Brad has a type...long wings that can't shoot at all. He has three of them now in Banton, Walsh and Brissett

I don’t think Brad has the financial freedom from Wyc and Co. that they lead everyone to believe he has

I do think last year we ended up filling out most of the bench fairly well.  I mean every team is going to have 2-3 guys who you never want to see the floor even in Geno time.  But Brad definitely does not seem to have the sway right now to convince some of these vets here and some of that blame should fall on him.  And it is like that Tatum/Brown do not have the sway to do that either, or they are not being involved at all, which would then fall to Brad.

I do think Tatum/Brown are not full vets yet where guys like Gordon would probably prefer to play with more seasoned players like KD as the guys in the same age range as Tatum/Brown are likely still looking for more money than the guys in the KD age range.

We will never really know whose fully to blame for the free agency aspect, but think it is definitely a combination of Brad not having enough sway (potentially Tatum/Brown too), not having the money to offer, not having realistic opportunities at playing time to offer and the fact that BOS sadly does not seem like a huge destination right now compared to some other spots.

To go with a coach that can't coach

... with said coach's entire philosophy based around shooting.

I don't understand why Hauser is apparently not valued by this community.
He's an elite shooter with length. Something we've wanted for years.
And he's on an absolute bargain of a contract.

Hauser is better than Struss and look what he's going to make.
And Hauser is just an overall good basketball player, his shooting aside.

Agreed.  There's no free pass.  Some of the guys Danny signed for the MLE or less:

Rasheed Wallace
James Posey
Eddie House
Shaquille O'Neal
Jermaine O'Neal
Marquis Daniels
Sam Cassell
P.J. Brown
Gary Payton
Gerald Green
Delonte West
Tom Gugliotta (?)
Stephon Marbury
Chris Wilcox
Michael Finley
Troy Murphy
Jason Terry
Mickael Pietrus
Darko Milicic
Leandro Barbosa
Evan Turner
Daniel Theis
Shane Larkin
Brad Wanamaker

Boston's climate wasn't any warmer back then.  Playing time wasn't much different.  The team was only the title favorite twice under Danny.  And yet, he consistently found rotation players.

And of course, that's without considering the max free agents that he convinced to come to Boston:  Horford, Hayward, Kemba.  Even Durant was very impressed with Danny's approach.  Brad hasn't proven he has what it takes to woo free agents.  Yes, Gallo chose here over Chicago.  But, JRich chose Miami, Thomas Bryant chose LA, we haven't sealed the deal with Terence Davis and we couldn't land a single buyout guy last year.

He also had some dumpster dive moments, signing Patrick O'Bryant (over Chris Andersen) and Darius Miles.

PBS values hungry hard workers & happy towel waivers over talent in his 3rd stringers.

He wants a happy locker room more than a deep bench.
I think the problem stems from already having some depth, insofar as we have 7 starting calibre guys in JT, JB, Porzingis, Brogdon, White, Horford and Williams 3. A lot of the veteran guys seem to be drawn to places where they can get some serious playing time, which we cannot offer
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I kind of agree. Finding a solid bigger wing defender when Tatum or Brown sits seems to be a priority this off-season.

All decent defenders at least. Need one to become a 3D wing for when Tatum or Brown sits. I see depth chart as

PG-White, Brogdon, PP
SG-Brown, Brogdon, Banton
SF-Tatum, Hauser, Brissitte
PF-Al, GW, ?
C-KP, TL, Blake

I think Kornet is the 4th big.
Replacing Grant if it comes to that will be important.

Is Banton a good defender?

I wish we'd signed Kris Dunn last year if that's what we're going for.
