Would you still do the Brogdon trade?

Essentially Brogdon for Morris, Coffey, 30

I'm not sure how much the C's can rely on Brogdon to run the point anyway.  So assuming the Clippers did the health check, would you still do the trade?  Adds a younger bench SG in Coffey, the 30th pick, and Morris who is expiring but can still provide solid minutes in a swing role.  Team would obviously need to find a veteran PG (though does anyway) and the extra 1st and Morris decent sized expiring provide a means to actually make a trade if needed.

No. Hate Morris. Delighted when he left the team. So bloody selfish and always talking about others not putting the team first. Hated having him on the team.

No. I don't see how Morris and 30 moves the needle for this team. Morris might have fallen off the cliff last year. He may no longer be a rotation player. If it involved moving up in the draft, then maybe.

The only value I see in this would be getting off a year of Brogdon's salary.

My thinking was more of getting 30 and converting Brogdon into Morris expiring.  Morris is then a far more attractive trade piece.  That is the whole reason we had to find a 3rd team to do the Zinger trade to begin with i.e. the Wizards didn't want salary past this season.  Morris gives Boston a nice sized easily moveable contract.  Brogdon isn't that and I don't think he has much of a market as he only makes sense on contenders and he is hard to match salary wise.

I think Brogdon should have the surgery, take longer but should be fixed right.

Still for trading Brogdon but for the right deal. Cs still have holes at the wing/swing spots and if they trade Brogdon, will need at least a body there as well. Guess it really depends on what they do/get with Williams or if they make another big move.

I tend to think Brogdon is worth a bit more than this. Celtics gave up a rotation big (Theis) a prospect (Nesmith, who started for them this year), and a first. I know he has one less year on his contract.

I guess the value is not that bad. If we worked a third team into the deal upfront, I'd be ok with it. I just don't want Morris around and I don't think we can afford the minutes to help him "rehab" his value.

If we could essentially trade Brogdon for no salary and get under the luxury tax, then we may be able to use the MLE also, which is added value.

Why are we so anxious to trade Brogdon ?

I seem to remember most being thrilled to get him from the trade last summer and he was praised throughout the season for moving the ball and making smart, quick decisions that were a big plus for an offense with a bad tendency to go iso. Then he wins the league 6th Man of the Year. I prefer the idea of keeping him and White to facilitate better offense. Plus Brogdon has been a model teammate with a great attitude.
